Oh man the blue checkmarks can't help themselves lol...
On the Podcast of the Lotus Eaters they pointed out that the senator pointed out himself that people called him racial slurs for being republican, and that he had experienced discrimination, prior to saying that the US was not a racist country.

It seems to me that he's saying, we're not "institutionally racist" or whatever, not that there are no racists in the country. He is fighting the current narrative, not the historical definition.

Well, the regressive left can't be racist by definition; therefor there are no racists in this country, or at least no more than a vanishingly small minority. If they could, however; there'd be your "institutional racism" right there.

Snopes actually fact checked an erroneous claim by CBS which said 85% of viewers approved of Biden's State of the Union speech.

I think Hell must have frozen over just now.

More like they've realized just how much of their credibility they've thrown away in the past few years and are now desperately clawing to get some of it back.

Not sure where to put this thread besides here. Call it amateur online journalism. I appreciate the work, BUT. This guy's thread doesn't mention the word "pandemic" once. It dodges the question of how the lockdowns might affect voting patterns in the recall, or perhaps efforts to collect enough signatures in the first place.

California will be blue for a very long time. The Dems have imported a a whole new electorate and are using the Curley Effect to drive out the rest of the republicans.

its not the republicans who will drive Newsome out of office its going to be his fellow democrats.

Make no mistake he pissed off too many very rich very powerful people and companies Disney being at the top of that list and now after the election he's disposable. He's going to be kicked out and used as a scape goat for the rest of the democratic party.

That site was created to "combat" President Trump's statements, their relevance is long past its date of expiry.

Snopes existed long before Trump ran for President. It had some credibility because at least originally, it was somewhat fit for purpose. I vaguely remember it being useful for checking out the sort of rumors that were half urban legend, a decade or more ago.

Yeah, back in the day Snopes was run by a husband and wife team and most of the site was dedicated to debunking scam emails or showing when images had been photoshopped to mislead people. It's focus was on debunking Bigfoot sightings and the like.

Around 2014 the Mikkelsons divorced and the wife quit posting on the site, and it went into crazy politics instead of urban legends around that point. A couple years later it started it's infamous feud with the Babylon Bee by debunking articles like "CNN Orders Gigantic Washing Machine to Spin the News." Snopes kept sending it's "Debunkings" of satire articles to Facebook in order to try to get the Babylon Bee canceled under the fake news policy.

It was originally just about urban legends, it expanded eventually to include scams and other rumors and at some point went completely political. this, in my opinion, was largely during Obama's presidency , but someone who was paying more attention might have better details.
