Interesting; we'll see how things go now that the Taliban are back in charge and really in need of funds.Funny story... Do you know what happened last time China tried that?

Something tells me those old mining contracts are effectively null and void now, and will be renegogiated with the new(old) rulers of A-stan to give more favorable terms to the CCP in exchange for CCP investment in A-stan.

“On Saturday, that’s a setup,” Trump said, referring to the rally.
“If people don’t show up they’ll say, ‘Oh, it’s a lack of spirit.’ And if people do show up they’ll be harassed.”
Which is why such setups often end badly for the people who show up.I hope it's peaceful. The types of people who would fall for an obvious setup include a disproportionate number of wackos, and concentrating those is usually a bad idea.
What exactly would this 'protest' accomplish, if it was not just a metaphorical honey pot to attract the parts of the Right too stupid or prideful to see it for what it is?I really hate that we are at a point that people on the right feel they can't go to a protest because they fear the people in power will purposefully frame and harass them...
God, I miss Trump being president.
It's part in parcel of the general suppression of the right. it's not that rallies or protests do anything, it's that an entire political party in a two party system can no longer politically organize in public. What exactly would this 'protest' accomplish, if it was not just a metaphorical honey pot to attract the parts of the Right too stupid or prideful to see it for what it is?
Donating funds to lawyers for Jan 6th defendants would probably do more to actually help them.
Protesting might feel good for a little bit, but these days the Right 'protesting' is always going to be at least 50% agent provacutuers from the Left/glowie agents looking to entrap or manipulate the crowd.
I never went to any Trump rally or protest, and never will go to one, specifically because of how easy it is for a few idiots or agents to start something I want no part in.
See, the Right can organize and demonstrate in public like the Left, however very few on the Right do the due diligence to keep out agent provacutuers and the like from events. It's part in parcel of the general suppression of the right. it's not that rallies or protests do anything, it's that an entire political party in a two party system can no longer politically organize in public.
And what steps would those be?See, the Right can organize and demonstrate in public like the Left, however very few on the Right do the due diligence to keep out agent provacutuers and the like from events.
Until the Right actually takes more basic steps to keep out bad faith actors and agent provacutuers from rallies, I have no interest in attending any of them.
Basic background/social media checks on anyone they send tickets to, or that request tickets. And what steps would those be?
I don't think you CAN keep them out.See, the Right can organize and demonstrate in public like the Left, however very few on the Right do the due diligence to keep out agent provacutuers and the like from events.

They can just not be in said crowds to begin with.I don't think you CAN keep them out.
The left doesn't keep them out either. I mean, look at all those BLM rallies where ANTIFA showed up or people started rioting and looting.
The majority of those people, were just people who were angry and protesting about it. They didn't keep those provocateurs out, either.
The difference is in how the media and law enforcement treats those protesters.
I don't think we can do much about it.
If a left wing group protests, and people start rioting, it's a mostly peaceful protest. When the same thing happens on the right, they place the blame on the entire crowd.
There's not much the crowd can really do about it.
Yes, I tend to agree here. Not much good can come from us protesting right now. They can just not be in said crowds to begin with.
People on the Right thinking us publicly protesting and demonstrating ala the Left will do anything helpful for the Jan 6th folks are fools or grifters.
The truth is public protest by people on the Right is largely ineffective at accomplishing anything of import, compared to the Left, and the Right would be much better off not engaging in public demonstrations for now because they almost always backfire on the Right in some way.
