The trial wasn't related to politics."

The only part of that one could argue is political is the very last part. This court case had nothing to do with deciding that law though, simply enforcing it. It doesn't even make sense to say it's the government harassing someone they don't like, since the case was bought forward by the injured parties, not the government. So... No, not political.
