(CNN) -- Former US Capitol Police officer Michael Riley was found guilty of obstruction on Friday for deleting his own Facebook message telling another user to remove portions of a post that person made about entering the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
But the jury in Washington, DC, couldn't reach a verdict on a second obstruction count Riley faced for suggesting to the Facebook friend that he take down parts of his post, a move that federal prosecutors had alleged hampered their criminal investigation.
The judge declared a mistrial on the second charge.
"Hey Jacob, I'm a Capitol Police officer who agrees with your political stance," Riley wrote to Facebook friend, Jacob Hiles, on January 7, 2021. "Take down the part about being in the building they are currently investigating and everyone who was in the building is going to be charges. Just looking out!"
After deliberating across four days, jurors told reporters they quickly agreed to convict on the one count, but there was one juror who would not convict on the other count. The holdout wasn't sure about what Riley was thinking when he messaged Hiles.
"We tried every argument to try to convince them otherwise," one juror said. But they were unsuccessful.
Well that's good he did obstruct an investigation for the sake of personal politics.

Looks like there is some new funny business going on.
1. In and of itself, no. But after antifa keeps showing up to "protests" that keep escalating into riots that caused billions of damage and killed dozens of people, maybe someone should start taking a look at the people filling their social media pages with bragging about how they're involved in that.
2. Yeah, I'm sure antifa has no idea how every time they show up, somehow stuff keeps getting set on fire. Total mystery.
3. That's clearly not the case, since law enforcement has been using CCTV, social media, etc to track down rioters from the capital, clearly that capability exists.
4. I think "stop the people that have caused more damage than every hurricane in the past 30 years put together" qualifies as worthwhile use of state resources.
5. That chilling effect is exactly what should happen. These rioters ought to be afraid that the next time they decide to ruin someone's livelyhood, the cops will hunt them down and drag them off prison. Instead of having the entire media cover for them and the VP bail them out on the rare occasions they do actually get caught.
That's a clear contradiction with all the stuff you said above, because many of the 2020 riots saw exactly that happen and no one did anything.

How about the FBI and Capitol Security team open up and talk about why Ray Epps is not being charged despite being on camera calling for violence and invasion of the Capitol while the Jan 6th comitee cries about grannies and overturned trashcans? Or the Capitol Police explain why the locked doors built to handle 18 pounders from Redcoats were opened remotely to let people in and cops took away barriers as soon as the first people entered instead of stopping them?
