He was apparently successful because they had to call 911 for help after taking casualties.

I'm not sure what that says about the audacity of determined nutcases or the quality of US military special forces.
It was a ninja attacking pilots at a civie airport on a training mission.

Pilots tend not to want to fight hand to hand, because they really do not want a flight surgeon yanking their flight status over mangled limbs or deep lacerations.
It was the 160th. Pilots basically

It's not just pilots who dislike fighting hand-to-hand. Avoiding an "up close and personal" fight is human instinct and we evolved the ability to throw things with range, power, and accuracy so we don't have to reach out and touch something unfriendly with our fists except in an emergency.

Fair enough.

Only in the modern "shoot it" sense.

My youngest daughter was ten when a swan decided to pick a fight with her. The swan was killed by a rock she picked up and threw before I even knew she was in danger.

Good to knew - it is still hope for USA thanks to parents like you, even if Biden finish off USA military.Keep going on your good deeds !

We are very large and dangerous apex predators. My youngest daughter could - and did - say to a wolf "I'm bigger than you" when she was in middle school.

A Twitter Account unloaded a rather surprising story about how the owner of a Czech Castle confronted the German Army when it crossed his countries border back in 1938 and did so clad in a full suit of medieval style armor and mounted on a war horse.

Read about Josef Mensik, the last owner and Knight of Strakonicku Castle.

to expand upon the story of Josef Mensik, he was a early reenactor, and the castle was an old fort on his family's farm holdings.
His action against the Germans was more of a protest and defense of the homeland in spirit, than actual combat.
Still, the Germans captured him & confined him to his 'castle' for the remainder of WW2.
And, he wasn't alone. Local lore tells of 2-3 other reenactors who joined him; you can see a second person behind him in the first picture.

I never thought I'd ever hear someone from Eastern Europe say that the Soviets were worse than the Nazis.

Granted, IIRC from what you've said, you're Polish.

Poles have long history of getting shit on by everyone else that continues to this day if the news stories I've read over the years about how "Poles are not welcome in the rest of Europe" are true. Some of them would make an American KKK member say "they really got away with doing that?"

probably because the Poles have historically been rather enlightened compared to the rest of Europe.
At one time, the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth stretched across the waist of Europe.
from the Baltic Sea to almost the Black Sea. The Poles also created the 1st constitution in Europe, which caused mass concern in the monarchies surrounding them. when it comes to European history that most Americans have never heard of, the Poles have a lock on first place.
I'm actually working on a Master's degree in History. Seriously considering the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as my thesis.

From my understanding, the Russians had made a concentrated effort (as in 'cultural and literal genocide' levels of effort) to wipe out Poland in its entirety. Even the Prussians (and later, Imperial Germany) weren't that bad.

My understanding is that central Europe was such a quagmire of 'fun' because it's basically flat as a board. Due to the constantly changing political environment, the Poles decided to be more pragmatic. Especially since Poland-Lithuania was in the same boat as the HRE in that one family dominated the monarchy... and as time went on, Russia put their finger on the scales like Britain in the HRE... which gave the US one Casimir Pulaski, aka its first General of the Calvary.

Yeah, the US had a Gay Prussian and a biologically intersex (seriously, we dug his body and... holy shit it had both male and female attributes) Pole as two of its military founders.

Serms our sealift capacity/capability is pretty marginal for our needs at the moment, and not really in a state to supply a force while also facing contested waters, which the whole Pacific could become rather quickly.

We kinda are though.
Sealift is only PART of our operational capabilities

Blame Congress and the other military branches for that.

Front-line warships are very expensive just to build and extremely expensive to maintain because they require support vessels that are also expensive.

A Burke-class destoyer is much more expensive than an NFL football stadium.

You'll be able to see the stadiums on Sundays when you're watching TV. You probably aren't going to see destroyers doing destroyer things on a random Sunday.

That's unfortunate. Have we considered selling out naming rights to our warships like we do with stadiums? That could help offset costs.

To be honest, we simply need to ensure that the rich actually pay their taxes more than anything. Another thing is that we're seeing the Star Wars Legends 'Judicial Forces are too overstretched because of the small budget for the commitments' situation playing out in real life...
