Hazbin Hotel

Not to jump onto the dogpile, but there was already a backlash with people complaining about gay/queer people going to hell being some kind of regressive trope, and the creators told them to get fucked. I have no doubt that the writers lean left, but I'm not going to write Hazbin Hotel off as progressive propaganda until I see it.

I wouldn't really consider this as pushing an ideology. So far, almost every character is a scumbag. These aren't exactly role models to follow.
They haven’t been scumbags. They’re supposed to be quirky and loveable, and fill every stripe of the rainbow. It’s pretty obvious they are going to go with some progressive arcs about god and heaven, they said the sexuality of every character, down to having Asexual/Aromantic which is pure fucking nonsense and doesn’t exist.

No, most of the characters vices are portrayed as bad. Look at the sex spider. He seems like he's in power, but getting used instead by those above him and degraded. He doesn't seem to have a happy life at all, despite his degeneracy. In Helluva boss, the characters are having fun, but are more villain protagonists (they murdered a child, for example).

Also, I don't think heaven will be a great place, given that the angels murder people. My guess is that the solution will be to be good people in the land where they live, instead of hoping for an outside force to save you.

That would be a nice series-theme, but wouldn't solve the "problem" of overpopulation.
I mean, the concern of overpopulation comes from the very real threat of the angels coming down and murdering them. If it wasn't for that, it doesn't seem there would be a problem. I figure that they'll rise up against the angels at somepoint.

Eh. Gay people can fall in love. And although the protagonists do feature one lesbian couple and one aggressively non-gender-conforming sex spider, the pilot did not imply that everyone was a flavor of gay.

I do not think that the series will end up being mere woke propoganda, and look forward to seeing more.

I hope not. "Rage against the Heavens and win!" is so overdone, it is rightfully mocked in JRPGs. Would be more interestening if instead Charlie's plan actually works.

Read through the cast listing. Husk is listed as pansexual, Radio Demon as Asexual/Aromantic, they are filling every letter in LGBTQAAIP2. Though reading through the voice actors I’m glad they gave the new grounds guys some acting roles.

In regards to Hazbin pushing an agenda, it should be noted that while Vivziepop is definitely left leaning, and mentioned LGBT representation as a specific goal of hers for the show, she’s actually caught a lot of flak from the woke crowd for having expressed admiration for youtubers Shoe0nHead and Blaire White. Both of whom are mostly known for criticism and mockery of the left’s more propagandistic positions.

Accordingly, I wouldn’t expect Hazbin wokeness to go far beyond excessive, but ultimately harmless tokenism. And, I suppose, a rather irreverent stance towards Biblical subjects... but that kinda comes with the premise.

Now that I've watched the episode, it's... okay overall? That the slut and her family turned out to be vile people is probably to avoid making the cast too unsympathetic. This said, the changed relationships between the character, like Blitzo being a lot more assertive and bossy towards his subordinares, are not quite my thing. I mean, the pilot seemed fine enough like that. Then again, the cast run a business. Still, the line where Blitzo threatens Moxxie to rape him and his wife is still over the top.

As for the voice-acting, I like Millie's country gal voice, whereas Stolas lost out with his new voice.

One detail I like is how you can see background gags long enough to decipher them.

Finally, the teacher went to hell for two good reasons: 1. She commited suicide, and 2. She did it in front of her students. Had she refrained from both, she might have been spared a place in hell.

First full episode of Helluva Boss.

Well. That was pretty appropriate for Halloween.
Overall, there were a few changes made from the pilot, and I like what they did. Millie's country gal voice is a great change from her bubbly airhead personality. Give her more personality, when she was the most invisible character in the original episode. And Blitzo is less pathetic, which is always a change for the better. Frankly, the lowest part of the pilot was when he was mewling about his father crushing his dreams, or just acting like a clueless middle manager. I don't need him to be a hyper-competent hellhound of an operator, I just think that the cartoon is stronger when he's focused on (and fucking up) a job.

Well, that was clueless. You take your daughter to an amusement park as a distraction from your failing marriage, and you choose your side bitch for your bodyguard? It's kind of a tragedy because Stolas is depraved and clueless, he clearly cares for his daughter. And he was a doting father. I mean, how many men sing to their daughters like that to chase the nightmares away?

Oh, and it's amazing how fast Blitzo can cycle a bolt action rifle when he has to put a clown down.

PS: I thought it was weird that a high-level demon like Stolas would need to bring a bodyguard with him. Turns out it was just an excuse to bring said side bitch along for the right. Not cool, man. Not cool.
