I believe Zoe also mentioned that this was meant to kill the forum by driving away the posters. How much it was about that, and how much it was really about the Stability of the Constitution isn't clear.

It seems like Zoe's just had a meltdown all together.

I mean, after telling her I like her, want her to stay, and explaining stuff about why we flip flopped on covid, she just rants about me loving Trump, and I don't even consider myself a Trump supporter. She was acting entirely unhinged.

She created this place and claimed to want a space where people can freely express their opinions, but as soon as people had opinions she didn't like, it was time to destroy the forum...which she admitted she was trying to do. For a time her goal was to destroy the forum and push users away. (And I mean, holy shit, in the grand scheme of how things have played out here, that explains SO MUCH of the last few weeks/months)

And shit like this predates the election. She said it started for her when the right flip flopped on covid.

So maybe this place is better off with Sunhawk. It needs to be ran by somebody that can control their emotions and not try to destroy the board just because they don't like a few posts or a few posters.

I don't know anything about him except he types in yellow and third person. But I'm optimistic.

I would put forward that what is important is containment. Basically like the doom thread. Have an election fraud thread, a covid conspiracy thread, etc, but have them be off topic elsewhere. The problem is the constant posts of this stuff everywhere.

Honestly I find it heartening. I've been worried about the future of the forum and it becoming an empty echo chamber for some time but community was robust enough to survive the owner actively trying to destroy it. That's pretty solid, and I think LordSunhawk's plan to increase the focus on writing an artwork will make it even stronger.

But I will draw the line at attacking Zoe like this. She created this space for us and is having to walk away from her baby, this is not easy for her, nor is it a good time for any of us. Going forward, please leave the past in the past where it belongs. This pointless sniping at people because they didn't do what you wanted them to do and didn't react the way you wanted them to react is, well, pointless. Accept that they may have reasons for their reaction that are equally valid to your own and you will be much happier in life.

The Politics forum will reopen later today. I will be setting a few ground rules for that reopening, after I have had the chance to discuss them with staff. Going forward, I also ask that people focus on the future and what we can do to make this a place where we can all enjoy ourselves, regardless of our ideology.

Personally I see them as childish or distracting, tempting me into low content shitposts as to pad my record.

Also, in getting off on the right foot, considering some of the issues that the forum has had recently, I think that it would be appropriate to reverse all perma-bans.

Definitely agreed. Besides being in bad form, badmouthing the former owner of the site will not accomplish anything. Regardless of any disagreement with her, she deserves a better farewell.

The problem I have with that is that advocating for secession isn't actually illegal, as Zoe claimed; she and her friends just didn't want to allow people to do so. Like she didn't want to allow people to talk about the Corona Virus, before people (including myself) pointed out how hypocritical that was of her to even consider doing, seeing as it was a complete betrayal of her commitment to the principles of free speech when creating this forum.

I dont blame her for it, RL is more important and that being said we all need to focus on what lies ahead now rather than behind.

In any case, another suggestion I will make is doing away with the confusing dual staff profiles for newer staff members and just grandfather in the senior ones to be exempt to avoid confusion keeping new staff from abusing this to possibly sway conversation.

Ultimently I am glad that Zoe took this journey with us, we had all been through a lot of pain and fuckery. In a normal world none of us would be in this situation.

But we do not live in that normal world, we live in a world were left wing political violence has been normalized, where the proscription lists of the left have been put in place to ruin peoples careers for about 4 years now, and where mass censorship is a thing. A world where places of worship are forcibly closed but strip clubs are kept open because their 'essential'.

Zoe was brave to walk with us for as long as she could and I commend her bravery, but there comes a point where sadly she cant walk with us any more. I under stand why, like I said we live in pretty dark times. I honestly wish her the best in her personal life and in new ventures, and wish that the world was not an insane clusterfuck.

As for politics, put a lid on it for hmmm, maybe until January or until all lawsuits are effectively over. If people want to talk about politics, they can take it to discord. At this point, there really isn't much positive contribution to the political forum, because we're in such political discord.

I don't think we actually do. However, many of us came here through a discord. I believe that's how we first met Zoe. Most of the...more colorful characters also post there. Needless to say, there are places to talk about politics within this group of people without the need of taking it here. At least for now.
