Stargate. Have the Stargate set in another country on that world. SGC makes contact not realizing its the world from Gate. Maybe before Japan is brought into the secret of the SGC. No one at the SGC really knows its 'that' world until SG-1 and Recon Team 3 stumble into each other. Que a very awkward meeting and the Stargate Program getting exposed to the Japanese government. Cause I got the feeling that relations between the US and Japan weren't so great in GATE.
This needs to be written if it hasn't been already!!!
Itami interacting with Jack will certainly be interesting.

"It worked in 40K" is never, ever, a reason to think a tactic would be viable. That's the setting that spawned the "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword!" meme after all.

Well, they started as tabletop game who wanted figurines with swords,so they needed melee.

But - even in OTL,Japan taken part of China using banzai charges, and soviets used human wave and taken Berlin.I knew, that they would the same with normal tactic, but - it is proof, that zerg rush could work on our Earth.

Frankly I have always thought that the massive waves of Guardsmen are just there to get the enemy properly positioned for the Basilisk, heavy bomber and Leman Russ big boom.

And put lots of misused lore into it.
Remember, in preparation for the change, the director was told to read the book... and the guy didn't read the book.

To give ideas, I've got an Anno 2070/2205-Transhuman Space setting that could cause hiccups... through the cultural, economic, and military differences of a nation born in a world where colonialism is now a thing again, the (geopolitical) filibuster is back in the vouge, has a major authoritarian bent (because having things like the ability to cook synth-plagues on the level of The Division's Dollar Flu or make nukes from one's basement and more than enough people willing to use them is... detrimental to civilization), among other things against the Empire and the JSDF would cause oh so many hiccups. Especially since they'll be colonizing the place for keeps.

Depends on the type of regiment and who is writing the story. Different Guard Units have different war doctrines and different forge worlds have different marks of equipment. Given the nature of FTL communications and divergent conditions on millions of worlds, etc. It is remarkable that the Imperium, which is the declined remnants of a vastly larger Human Federation of the DAOT, can even get enough people firing in the same direction to make a difference.

Hell there have been occasions where Guardsmen slaughtered Chaos Space Marines in droves and occasions where the opposite happened. All comes down to commanders and what they do. But in general, when a Space Marine and Imperial Guard General do everything right, the Space Marine General will typically win by dint of superior technology and mobility.

Yeah, there are some pretty exotic regiments, but I was thinking of the more shall we say, generic ones like the one featured in DoW 1.

Gate opens up in the The Sword of Truth verse just as Richard heads forth with Kahlan to defeat Darken Rahl.

Kicks back and laughs as this goes about as well as you would expect.

Just had some inspiration, I thought I might suggest having the gate open up in the Worldwound, but I figured it would be too cruel. Have the gate open up on a world called Tirmar, which definitely is inhabited by friendly beings who understand the value of sapient life and not a world filled with chaotic evil lizardmen and their dark god.

A Gate or two gates, leading to Sadera and Gate Earth respectively, open in the middle of Neverwinter.

The Road-Cone-That-Walks goes to pick up beer on Earth first and catches up with an old friend and then maybe does something.
