I think that meme is specifically poking fun at Hitler, who being Literally Hitler, unsurprisingly opposed the Christmas truce while serving on the Western Front.

The Canadian Corps/Expeditionary Force's first engagement in WW1 was 2nd Ypres, where we pretty much went insane from getting gassed (as well as probably-fake rumors of a Canadian volunteer getting crucified by the Germans) and rapidly built up a reputation as especially vicious bastards in response. Canadians were also often deployed as shock troops on assaults like at Vimy Ridge, which necessarily required the chosen Canucks to be the most brutal & merciless hardasses that the Entente could possibly find & field against the Germans.
