Free Speech and (Big Tech) Censorship Thread

Libs of TikTok has been locked down by Twitter.

Interestingly although they're accusing Libs of TikTok of hate speech, they aren't requiring any tweet to be taken down and don't have a hateful post to point to. This feels incredibly like SV's "Pirate Principle" they use to ban people for wrongthink when they can't actually point to any rules violating. Libs of TikTok barely has any posts on its own, being almost entirely reposts and retweets of videos and commentary by Liberals exposing their views. It's been especially crucial to uncovering Critical Race Theory via sharing videos of people talking about how they push it in classrooms. This reminds me a lot of DefiantLs getting banned for no reason when all they did was retweet inconvnient posts to uncover hypocrisy.

Even Parler's terms of service included as "we can ban any user at any time for any reason" provision, and in any case private businesses are *rightfully entitled to* do so.

Legally entitled to, sure, but it's incredibly blatant that they ban people with views they don't like, while allowing actual terrorist groups (Antifa) to stay on, and politically correct calls for violence are treated with kid gloves.

The Seitch TOS says we can ban anyone we want for any reason at any time, but if we actually started acting like that, the site would die overnight, no one wants that kind of arbitrarily management policy.

Twitter is only still running because it's defective moderation is confined to a narrow slice of users, if normal twitter was managed like political twitter the site would be a ghost town.

Gareth Wyn Jones, a Welsh farmer, got handed a Tiktok ban because he was Harassing and Bullying vegans by showing them a turnip. Specifically, after too many demands that he make his farming channel Vegan, he pulled a turnip out of the ground on-camera and pointed out it was fertilized by cow manure, hence even organic vegan produce still uses animal products to grow. Such vicious bullying. The ban was rescinded after 24 hours but he's already been banned again for some other vegan complaint.

Meanwhile, Vegans have repeatedly threatened to end him and his entire bloodline for eating meat. Of course, these platforms champion free speech so nobody could do anything about that.

Another agreed: “I complained to Facebook when a vegan stated that all farmers should be killed. Facebook replied stating they hadn’t done anything wrong.”

That's the most stupidest suggestion I ever heard to a farmer.

One out of ten vegans are reasonable, friendly people. Nine out of ten vegans are batshit insane and are the literal stereotype.
They have a well-earned reputation for this very reason. Top tip: they hate it when you talk about the bees needed to pollenate the crops, the animals that die just from harvesting a field, and the yeast in their beer and the rennet in their wine.

There are vegan-ok sources of enzymes similar to rennet. The sane vegans draw the line at dead vertebrates and shellfish on the dinnertable.

The truly batshit crazy ones think harvesting natural sea sponges (yes, they're animals) is just as bad as murder. They can't be reasoned with.
