When there's enough reports "ban first, sort it out on the appeal" happens because the mods are flooded and feeling lazy.

Unless the staff had a bias or you were on a "list", I'm pretty sure a lot of the dumbass decisions made on Spacebattles were because the staff just went with the flow of the report-mob due to being overworked/burdened.

I mean, everyone starts somewhere. Gab would be viable as part of creating our own parallel economy and such to basically just be able to be just fine being banned from what the leftists control. But if Twitter can be taken over and becomes more of what Gab seeks to be as far as being more about free speech, that kind of eliminates the need for Gab beyond the need for some competition of goods and services in general.
Honestly, though, I think people ought to cut back on social media and I'm frankly kind of disturbed that it's taken on the emphasis that it has.

The left has likely been gunning for that particular publisher a long time. They've published numerous evil books, such as The Island of Free Ice Cream which teaches economics and warns about the dangers of communism, or More Than Spots and Stripes which teaches the now-outdated notion that you can fight racism by judging people according to the quality of their character instead of the color of their skin. Even worse, it teaches that hard work and practice lead to success rather than yelling at other people.
