Yeah, I don't want to see another Matrix movie. If they last two were better, not to say they weren't decent, but saying if they were actually good as sequels I wouldn't be worried and would be excited. I'd actually want to see something truly wrapping up the Matrix, but really, you can't always get what you want.

The question is how they could continue the story from where the 3rd movie left it. This seems to me to be one of those things where one needs to know when to stop.

At least Jupiter Ascending was fascinating from the perspective of being a 14-year-old-girl's Mary Sue fanfiction turned into an actual movie with a reasonable production budget. This is just going to be depressing. The Wachowskis need to retire.

Yeah they kind of... ended the conflict that was the entire premise of the setting. The Matrix franchise -is- that war, conceptually.
The Bad guy was vaporized out of existence and the good guy voluntarily shed the mortal coil to do it.

It'd be like if Luke and darth vader exploded and turned the emperor good, and the last scene was the emperor hanging out with Yoda's force ghost and grudgingly admitting that he should run things differently.
Theres nowhere you can go from there that doesnt invalidate the previous conflict.

Why the fuck us this a thing?!

Of all the franchises to try to add more too, The Matrix-verse is one of the shittiest options I've heard of so far.

Imagine a barrel of creativity whiskey. Its empty, but they refuse to get a new barrel, so instead they get a pain scraper. They use the scraper to get out some of the soft wood at the bottom of the barrel, and try to squeeze some creativity out of it.

That is what has happened here.

Honestly, the MMORPG they ran for some time had the best continuetation of the story. Like, the end of the war did not mean that every human could be released because hey, apocalyptic hell-hole, and most people would go insane from being waken up. Instead the status quo was that every individual that is trying to pierce the Matrix would be given the choice of waking up or working with the Agents. There was also the programs faction later on, and a whole lot more stuff about the story and Neo.

Curious fact: near the end of the game, it was revealed that Neo's body has disappeared, with neither side claiming responsibility.

Huh?

Bugman? "Cheat codes"? Any of this ringing a bell? That stuff was weak as hell. The Matrix online had a good concept but it diddnt seem like they knew where to go with it.

Also I thought Neo's missing body was like, mentioned in the Trailer, not the end game.

Saw the first one, liked it. Saw the second one, was positively underwhelmed, never went to see the third one(an acquaintance called the third movie 'Matrix Devolutions - Give My Money Back'). Almost certain I won't see this new one.

Trailer was okay. Still on the fence about being excited for it. Odds are it'll be good I feel but I heard a lot of talk boosting this trailer and now that I've seen it... ehhhh I dunno. It just didn't 'Wow' me. It's been over like fifteen years. Matrix is a series that I feel didn't need a continuation so for me to really get into it, I would just need more to convince me..

I am extremely skeptical. Trailer seems like it might as well be just a remake instead of a sequel with what little changes there are either looking tacky or not fitting at all.

I look forward to being told I hate it because it's directed by a Trans Woman and because so and so is woke and so and so has been changed from the original.

After the last two subpar sequels, I'm immediately skeptical.

After the trailer even more-so...It just seems so condescendingly referential? "You remember the black cat? We got it. Remember lines of code and green showing up in logos and shit? Yeahp. Remember white rabbit, and Trinity, and collector machines, and agents taking over peoples bodies, and stopping bullets? You remember red-pill blue-pill you dumb bastards?". It just looks like such a greatest-hits collection of stuff done before, now in HD and 1080p with 2021 CGI!

For better or worse, they had a trilogy with a storyline that finished. Really not sure where it can be taken storywise that isn't rehash or proto-remake territory. Vaguely curious, but unless I hear some pretty rave reviews I don't plan on seeking it out in theatres I don't think.

LOL at Keanu Reeves just rockin' his John Wick hobo-vibes in whatever movie he goes to now, though. Man has had a serious career resurgence and he can just style himself as he likes it seems. Good for him.
