I'm going to have to admit. I'm somewhat excited for this based on the trailer. It's far better than I feared, but not quite as good looking as I might have hoped. But overall it seems it'll be quite decent based from the trailer.

But I am going to miss Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus. Man that man was created for that role.

Fishburne just fits the character both in looks and his method of acting.

A total creep
Saw the first one, deemed it meh.
Jackie Wang karate movie + puddle deep philosophy + poorly regurgited idea I've seen in a Polish SF short story from the 1970s (or 80s?) + good CGI
One of the most overhyped movies evah, so I'll pass.

I hear the movie is horrendous.

It is the worst of the Matrix movies.

It has a superslow build up which is fine but even then the action just putters along. The fight scenes are choppy with random cuts especially in the helicopter chase scene.

The basic plot was not the worst thing and I did find the fourth wall jokes kind of funny. But overall execution left the plot disjointed and hard to follow beyond what you expected from a Martix sci fi movie.

The acting was meh. It felt forced from Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves plays the same role he has in his last ten movies and has gotten old. The side characters where far better and out shined both the main characters. I did think that Neil Patrick Harris did put on a strong performance.

But overall not worth the money if you don't already have HBOmax

Gen x and millennial boomer style movie.

Better and not as mean or smug as last jedi.

If anything like a fix fic.
Really liked the villains as more characters than cardboard sheeple or meanie heads. Basically matrix generation reflecting on growing up and legacy.
Also more explicit queer revolution frustration and so on
Zion was especially liked

I have to agree Agent Smith was great for his little screen time and Neil Patrick Harris gave the best performance in the entir3 movie.

Watched it last night. Spoilers below.

The kindest thing I can say about it was that the whole movie was boring.

None of the jokes made me laugh, which is pretty bad, because I'm a giggler.

I didn't like Nu-Morpheus. He would say old lines, but then laugh or make fun of them as if they weren't solid when delivered by old Morpheus.

Too many scenes where they showed the original movies while explaining things. I only found it 'useful' twice, when they introduced two characters that were in the original but look different now. Every other time it just got in the way.

The 'meta' stuff I felt was incredibly cringy. The whole scene where they talked about making "Matrix 4" wasn't smart or deep. It was just weak. Like they couldn't think of anything better to do. 4th wall jokes need to be solid, and can't be overused. They were terrible and kept happening.

I actually didn't mind the new characters, I expected "Bugs" to be really annoying, but she actually did a great job with her lines, and was probably one of the better actors in the movie. The other members of her crew were... There. They just didn't have any scene time so it wasn't a them thing. Although... One of the female crew had the ugliest hair style in the matrix. I literally cringed every time she was on screen.

The fight scenes? Again they weren't bad. They were just boring. Nothing new, nothing interesting. It felt like they were just added in because they needed to be. Obviously they didn't get someone with real passion for choreography this time.

I didn't mind the Trinity/Neo stuff too much, but I don't get how she somehow because the second One. That was never her purpose. They really got rid of a good chance to make Neo pull out more Jesus figure stuff you know like the ones all over the first three movies? The Allegory that he was basically the messiah? That one? The important basis that the entire trilogy was based on... Nope we throw that away.

I mean I thought the second movie wasn't great. But this is definitely the worst Matrix movie. I just can't help but ask. What is the point in making this movie? It doesn't do anything new.

I have watched every movie and while it has been years since my last viewing of the first three this one felt like the weakest one out of the four. It was little more than a reset to the whole thing and added very little to move the story along. I would wholeheartedly pass on this lazy worthless movie and just watch the first three movies. You'll not be missing much of worth.

It is perhaps one of the best examples of the adage just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you should. This movie needn't have been made and in my eyes, the world would have lost very little if anything if this movie was canned.

The fight scenes were bad because they refused to pay for both a good fight choreographer, and the time and money that asking Moss and Reeves especially to do good fight scenes would cost. Reeves' rates have got to be stupidly high both because of his insurance costs due to his stardom, age, and his insistence on doing it right if he's going to be doing it. Thus why he was given what I call the power of safe space, able to remove anyone he didn't like from being near him instantly. That meant he didn't have to do anything remotely dangerous and the fight scenes he was in could be done in 1-2 takes.

Because WB was going to make it anyway, the reason it turned out as it did was because Lana decided to fuck things over because Lana is just that petty and either WB would have been unwilling to pay for essentially a whole new movie after it had been filming for a year and they got the entire plot together or some idiot execs thought Lana's plan would be hip and ironic and decided to greenlight it ahead of time. Take your pick.

Do they think that a 20 million opening weekend would have covered the cost of the movie? Cause the people who would actually want a new Matrix movie are not the people the movie catered to, and that was made very clear from both the early reviews and the trailers.
