Five minutes of hate news

I'm surprised no one's really brought up the RESTRICT Act here yet. Among other things it bans the use of VPNs.
it is basically patriot act 2.0. it looks to try and be hiding behind the (justified) hate of TikTok as a propagandistic and subversive arm of the CCP. Were I a betting man I would guess it passes.

I wonder if it has a provision to allow them to use VPNs legally?

It's a shit act, intended to use fear of tictok to drive government overreach. Call your senators at (202) 224-3121.

It got brought up in a different thread on sietch

TLDR:
> to stop tictok chinese spying. we are letting the chairman of chamber of commerce unilaterally declare anything they feel like as "foreign activity" or "national threat". which then lets us arrest american citizens without trial, confiscate all their property, throw them in prison for 20 years, and give them a 1 million dollar fine.

and we all know who they would think is a "national threat"

Wait, so your predictions and proclamations about shit are based off a 'seer'...that's just sad.
My predictions are based on EU ,USA and China falling economies. It would not hold, fall, and we would have something else in its place.
Unfortunatelly, cold logic says that we would be replaced by muslims and hindu who would fight over remnants.

So,to find hope i go for polish Seer.Who was capable of finding missing persons if he get their photos, and discovered mix of herbs against basically everything, including cancer, which are working - and which he get from visions.

So,i hope, that he was right about future, too.Becouse logically we are screwed and without hope.

Wayne State professor suspended after advocating for killing 'right wing' speakers on campuses

DETROIT (FOX 2) - A social media post by an English professor at Wayne State University has left him off the job, at least for now.

On Steven Shaviro's personal Facebook page this month, the professor, philosopher, and writer, addressed so-called 'right-wing' speakers being allowed to speak on university campuses, starting with, "So here is what I think about free speech on campus."

Shaviro writes, in part – "Although i do not advocate violating federal and state criminal codes, I think it is far more admirable to kill a racist, homophobic, or transphobic speaker than it is to shout them down."

He goes on to say – that protesting right-wing speakers only feeds into what they want, and that is to look like the victims.

FOX 2 spoke to that professor – on the phone. When the reporter told him who I was, he immediately said he was not commenting and hung up. FOX 2 did learn, later Monday – that he has been suspended.

The Facebook post caught the attention of Wayne State President Dr. M. Roy Wilson, who took action.

Wilson releasing a statement that said, "We have on many occasions defended the right of free speech guaranteed by the Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, but we feel this post far exceeds the bounds of reasonable or protected speech. It is, at best, morally reprehensible and, at worst, criminal."

President Wilson says they have referred the post to the police for further investigation.

Higher-ups at the university are not doing interviews right now – they're standing behind Wilson's statement and waiting for guidance from law enforcement.

The sheer irony of this level of projection

I'm honestly surprised that he got suspended at all. A year or two ago he probably wouldn't have been, as there were more violent calls by professors that were lauded.
I really think this week's trannie shooting, and the media's BS blaming conservatives, and the LGBT community supporting it, is waking up a lot of people.

It takes a major event, or a few major events, to break the spell of mass hypnosis.

They're starting to wake up. Let's HOPE they continue.

Personally I have a few LGB friends who say they no longer wish to identify with the LGBT community.

Now this isn't me blaming the whole community for the crazy shooting done by one person. But I am blaming anyone from that community who isn't speaking up, for being part of the problem.

Rather than speaking up, a bunch of them have been cheering it on and supporting it. Those who don't go that far are victim blaming conservative Christians, as if a trannie murdering children is THEIR fault for trying to stop doctors from mutilating children.

I've always said that I don't care what adults do, who they love or what they do to their bodies. Just leave the kids alone and don't shove my face in it.

Well now when the law tells them they can't mutilate children, they go shoot them instead. And they WON'T FUCKING STOP shoving the shit in my face with the constant media barrage and pride months, Etc.

My opinion now is that it you're LGBT, and you're not speaking out, you're the problem.

There were tensions in the LGBT (ect) community long before this incident, and if things actually blow up I fully expect the LGB side of things to throw the rest of the letters under the bus to save themselves. That isn't a judgement against them when shit hits the fan you do what you have to do to survive.

Sadly, I get this. It fucking sucks, but it's the world we live in.

I hope not. There are plenty of Ts who are fine. The most toxic part of the LGBT community isn't the Ls, Gs, Bs, or even the Ts, it's the community. I've left the community a long while ago, as it's served any purpose it might have had, and is now about as useful as an Irish community. The issue becomes if it goes the way of Italian self help community groups, which is what has happened.

Yep. I know plenty of individuals who are LGBT and are great people, and have spoken out against this.

I've also seen others defend this or just say silent, and I've lost any respect for them.

You know, if the VPN ban makes it in, I can imagine quite a few lawsuits coming the Feds’ way.

Sure, they’ll probably pull dirty tricks to "blunt" the impact, but if the Pro-2A side has scored the kinds of legal victories it has, maybe there’s a shot at saving VPNs, too. Personally, I see even the most optimistic scenario as one that buys us time at most, as the people who run the system are dogged and persistent in getting what they want eventually. In which case, be on the lookout for them to try again in another 10 or 15 years, if the VPN ban doesn't make it in now.
