I’m mean that seems a bit hyperbolic. People will adapt it’s what humans are best at.
All species exist because they have a niche that allows for them to thrive. Like how woodpeckers have solid, long beaks to get to food, or beavers have strong teeth to cut down wood for their shelters.
The human species' niche is niche shifting. We adapt quickly to new situations and fill in a niche as needed. It's served us extremely well thus far.
The concern in this instance, is that things are changing more and more rapidly, and perhaps they may begin to change so rapidly that humans start failing to adapt. Maybe things change so fast that our niche shifting doesn't keep up.
We have AIs developing extremely fast, that will be able to mimic human behavior. They'll be able to write, create art, create computer code, produce convincing deep fakes, and a whole host of other things. Making humans somewhat obsolete in many areas. Especially once we get to the point where the AI can design better AI. We really aren't THAT far off from that if it's already producing functioning computer code.
This is a legitimate concern. Widespread AI that can replace the jobs of billions of humans, is absolutely going to cause societal turmoil. We are headed that way. How long until we get there? I don't know. We are going to see a MASSIVE shift in how societies around the world function when this happens. Billions of people will not have opportunities, humans are on the path to being made obsolete by our own creations.
