I'd thought that Fauci was just another ass-covering incompetent bureaucrat. Turns out that he's a sadistic monster. There needs to be a full investigation of all overseas funding that he's authorized over the course of his career. Who knows how many other atrocities he's been responsible for over the decades.

Wasn't PETA behind the anti- fur clothing push in the 80s and 90s, which got some traction, and related to the more recent push?
Fur is actually more environmentally friendly than fake fur, because real fur is organic and degradable for the most part, unlike fake fur which is plastic.
Just like how electric cars can be even worse for the environment than combustion engined cars depending on the source of the metals used to make the electric batteries.
EDIT: Also, many fur harvesters, at least in Canada, are Indigenous people who rely on this as one of their primary sources of income. But that only matters when it comes to the polls.
