Fallout Fallout General Thread - War, War Never Changes. Nor do game engines.

I'm not sure we can convert HP values directly game to game just due to how mechanics changed between them. FO1/2 Values I think are directly comparable, but FO:T is a different beast, and FO3 / FO:NV and FO4 all had significant changes to how damage worked between them that their values are inherently not cross-comparable.
True but then if we go by lore the Enclave Sigma should just melt Horrigan down with superior numbers and maybe only lose 1-2 guys in return.

Because he actively really hates stuff that is supposed to be in fallout.
It'd be like someone trying to have a say on Halo when they hate the engineers or something.

Okay, I'm going to need more details here. Because now I'm just confused. What exactly do you mean by 'talking critters'? Why does he hate them/what makes you say he does?

Frontier apperently got better after a while of it getting updated.
Less preachy I have heard.
America Rising 2 is a great 4 mod.
And New California is a great NV mod
I can't verify that for the simple reason even the briefest explanation on how to mod the three Fallouts (3, NV and 4) I have is complicated for me.
I saw a couple of the campaigns here :

The ending is fan service too much and gives a vibe of excessive interconnectivity to F1 and 2.

And I am not touching the Frontier.
Just give it time. The new Amazon show will be a game changer.

I have Latino/Italian tastes BUT I think Lucy's character and actress are already attractive as they are. No need (for me) for her having D+ cups.

Chris Avellone has a massive hatred of the design decisions made in Fallout 2, despite the vast majority of them being extensions of what was intended for Fallout 1.
Fallout 1 was supposed to have talking raccoon people, who were foreshadowing of the supermutants and were a result of FEV. ZAX still features information about these lil guys.
So FO2 releases and it has Seymour, a talking Spore plant, and a bunch of talking deathclaws including Goris a companion Deathclaw.

He...Really really hated this and as far as he's concerned they all dropped dead the second the game ended, despite there being a (bugged) ending where the deathclaws survive and thrive to make their own community.

Talking animals, such a deep iconic part of Fallout that you can't imagine it without them
Hey well, the game is inspired by a Boy and his Dog, which has psychic doggies.

There's literally no "hate" when Chris Avellone wrote parts of the Fallout Bible. When he wrote it, there were vague ideas of making a pen and paper RPG game out of the stuff based in part off of the Fallout Bible and he specifically stated the parts of the Fallout lore he didn't like were things like alien Wanamingos, other aliens outside of special encounters, ghosts, and the alleged reversal of Super Mutant sterility due to one line of Marcus dialogue along with the talking animals. But he never wanted to retcon swathes of Fallout 2 because he hated it.

He just had a different vision of the Fallout world then others did. Josh Sawyer had his own viewpoints. Tim Cain supposedly didn't like the Brotherhood of Steel medieval knight motifs for example.

Just because a creator doesn't like certain tiny ass parts of the expansive lore has no bearing on their authority or lack thereof regarding the franchise as a whole.

There's certain Battletech writers that have biases for certain mechs, eras of history, and factions and that doesn't invalidate their POV of things either. Same with Star Wars, DC and Marvel Comics and every other collaborative franchise. Chris Avellone stating that the Enclave accompanied the Chosen One back to Arroyo has literally nothing to do with him wanting to retcon talking animals in a vague sense when he wrote the Fallout Bible as basically a trivia/tidbit thing that might've been possibly used for a PnP RPG game in the vague future.

Stating you can't have a say on Fallout lore despite having helped develop the setting because you don't like talking critters is just asinine IMHO.

Restarting Fallout 4 or even 3...what mods do I need for 4?
9_6 Bethesda modding is a rabbit-hole that ultimately ends up either polishing a turd or adding a turd-sheen to a gold brick.

Play 99% vanilla, with unofficial patch and little else.

Honestly out of

FNV
FO3
FO4

FNV is the Best "Vanilla" game of them.
With DLC's I'd say Fallout 4 is in terms of features where as New Vegas DLC is far better in story and only slightly less better in features.

FO3 has the most memorable DLC's with Zeta and Anchorage though.

Oh I mean sure, play all of the DLC's of all of the games. They're all kinda neato.
Controversial take but I actually really enjoy the Zeta mothership DLC. XD

So Shady Sands was nuked after the events of New Vegas, per Todd Howard.

Guess the timeline was changed a bit for this canon, but moving New Vegas up by a few years isn't the worst retcon I've seen in media adaptations.

That's not even changing the time line, the nuking just literally and chronologically happens after the events of New Vegas.

So at this stage the ONLY major retcon is the location of Shady Sands.

Maybe Shady Sands is the new Springfield or Washington so they moved the Capitol to the Boneyard like a sort of District of Shady Sands. :p

That's what I'm thinking but I'm willing to give the Bethesda haters the benefit of the doubt they gotta have a W somewhere or they'll go crazy that 99% of their complaints about Retcons or Plotholes is explained by paying attention or them outright being wrong 😂

Looking for mods that improve slice of life and game play. I am getting the unofficial patch for console and would like more suggestions.

Well for four, full dialog is a popular one.
The place anywhere and erase anything as well for settlement.
Outside of that I have seen settlement and companion revamp of dialog and the like
Don't know much else, I usually do add one myself
