Fallout Fallout General Thread - War, War Never Changes. Nor do game engines.

Carrot of Truth

War is Peace
Never played it, just know about it.
It makes the settlements so much better

Yeah and its full of scripting which causes the game to become prone to crashing a lot. It does make settlements better but I'd rather tham just all be built at the start of the game so I don't have to fuck with them at all.

Of course you would say that.

So apparently the Sim Settlements team is working on an addition that allows for all the settlements to just be prebuilt from the start of a new game now. I gotta admit that is what I was always hoping for.

Bit of a nitpick over people saying the Chinese launched the nukes, FO2's intro states.
Too many humans, not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons, as always, purely human ones.
Despite claims in the fallout bible that war was taking place on the mainland, this contradicts the various pre-war 'last ditch' weapons of America such as FEV and various mutants and the like. I mean if you're winning the damned war you don't resort to immoral experimentation on your own troops.

So as of FO2, we have no clue who launched the nukes, with there being no real mystery because it doesn't matter who did.

The Government may have been looking at a Phyrric victory in the war. It was a resource war and how much petroleum and uranium were being used to fight the Chinese? How much would be left after the war for the home front? Could China plan to drag the war out to ensure the US ran out of resources and would collapse or sue for peace before the end?

Enclave President Dick Richardson stated that the Chinese launched first because America was winning the War. He even stated that the Americans almost didn't get their "birds in the air" because of it. It was part of one of the most memorable exchanges between him and the Chosen One because right afterwards he's like "We bombed China back into the Stone Age" like it was some sort of great victory. :poop:

Chosen One certainly wasn't impressed. :p

It honestly looks like both sides were utterly wrecked during the war, America resorting to war-crime'ing the Canadians in desperation. its basically an irrelevant coinflip on who nuked who first.

Also I wish we actually got a full-size .223 revolving-rifle, which the .223 pistol (That Gun) is a cut-down version of.
Would make for a neat sidegrade to the pistol and would look cool too.
