Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

This is hardly a unique experience. My own father 'wants Trump gone and doesn't care how'.

I know how the Hard-Ds and Left operate, and I know many of them would turn a blind eye to voter/election fraud and election interference to get rid of Trump.

Well, the article has 95 sources, so if random wants he can just go to the primary sources. That ought to be acceptable as proof?

That is generally what people recommend. Use the sources to get your info by leaving Wikipedia

Pfft, I'm even highly skeptical of the citations in Wikipedia. I tell people to look at 'em with a gimlet eye and find other sources to verify.

That's the thing, not anybody can edit Wikipedia.

If the matter is remotely political, only and exclusively leftists can edit it, or will be able to edit it once they realize they have not already brought it under control of their ideological banner.

Wikipedia is very useful for non-politicized things.

Thank you, it had slipped my mind that the left had an ideological chokehold over the site and actually do edit things in bad faith even moreso than I had stated. Or well not slipped the mind, it was at the back, so I wasn't thinking of it. Anyways, yes, I agree

Eh, you've got more patience for that than me. A decade plus of telling students and patrons to don't even think about citing Wikipedia in their papers and projects has pretty much made giving the backhand to anyone who pushes it to me as evidence an instinctive action.😀

Damn right, Papa Pocky don't stand for that in his classes or library or you get a whuppin'

Honestly my jimmies were rustled when I saw standards in that regard lowered. So I might be more patient, but I took those lesson taught to me by my librarians. When I am finished with my education fully, I am going to keep that standard. So in short I may be more patient, but it still rustles my Jimmies for much the same reason. Need to remember not to use it myself on forums, except for just giving people general info.

Look at the man's own website and tweets he's been an anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists for a long-time, but if he's who you wanna trust go for it. I wish I had jumped on the MAGA drifting train earlier, it's so easy to get you guy's to believe anything.

I'll keep citing Wikipedia for basic facts when it comes to things like this, when the MIT person you are holding out as an authority is an infamous loon.

So what? I see nothing in this that would discredit him.

Do you honestly belive that an Anti-Vaxxer is a credible source of information ?
It’s not about trusting Dr Shiva or not trusting him. It’s whether or not his numbers check out. His personal qualities, for good or bad, aren’t relevant. If his data and statistics were to be used in any meaningful way, they would have to be independently confirmed anyway - and that would go for any claims, including those made by a leftist who has all of the right letters next to his name and whose opinions are all orthodox.

It depends what on. Obviously I should be skeptical on what he has to say on public health matters in certain circumstances, but that doesn't discredit anything else he says. Plenty of intelligent men believe insanely stupid things, just look at Ben Carson, the man is a brilliant neurosurgeon, who is a self-made man, believed that the Pyramids were grain silos. And not mention how brilliant physicists tend to go abit soft as they gain in the years. One of the greatest Canadian Prime Ministers Mackenzie King, believed in all sorts of supernatural mumbo-jumbo, yet as I stated he was still one of the greatest.

Just, because someone believes in something weird, or is a crank, or the like, doesn't mean that their opinions in other matters are automatically disqualified. People can know some things incredibly well and be ignorant about other things. I'd say you are just trying to poison the well, because you don't like what he is saying.

One of the IT guys in my previous workplace was also an excellent coder. I also had a library assistant who was a wizard in doing reference work. Both of them were anti-vaxxers. Does that make their skills and knowledge less credible? No. So like @ShieldWife, @Archmagnus, and @Hlaalu Agent said, does his numbers check out?

On his area of expertise? Hell yes. A lot of people that are competent in their profession have bizarre or moronic beliefs outside it. OK, he's an anti-vaxxer, but this has nothing to do with mathematics. How about you actually disprove him point by point rather than using a lazy ad hominem attack?

He's not a mathematician though, he's got an electrical engineering undergraduate with an engineering masters and PHD nothing at all to do with statistics, political science or any field that would give him authority here.

Anyawy skimming through the video the general thesis seems to be that trump underperformed GOP candidates which is proof his votes were taken rather than evidence that people split their ticket between Biden and a GOP candidate. It just asserts that's impossible because trump has higher approval ratings than the GOP which is an absurdly stupid argument given that it doesn't directly translate into the individual canidate.

Also for those of you who donated to trump's election efforts, hope you like being gifted.

I know its comedy, but this sketch perfectly summarizes the divide between the coastal/urban liberal elites and the rest of the rural/middle American working class. This disconnect is largely after all what got Trump elected in the first place.

I'm curious to know what you're guys' thoughts on this matter are.

Honestly?

I think we are going to look at a return to tradition, which will look different in each country, but lets face facts we had a sexual revolution, we had a bunch of social ones and the rule with revolutions is that if you cant create a square workable solution that works on a practical level people go back to what works.

You can kick, you can scream, you can insult, you can riot, you can murder but if the revolution doesnt create a functional society then the revolution will be thrown into the garbage, and if you pissed enough people off during your revolution then so will you.
