Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

College sports have always been irrelevant; only the top handful of college football and basketball programs so much as break even. The absolute worst thing for a college budget is a program that is "almost a contender", because they end up spending literally hundreds of millions on facilities and equipment and coaches, plus admitting "student athletes" who are all athlete and no student.

The NCAA is a giant parasitic scam that basically lets the NFL and NBA have farm teams where the players get literally nothing, the colleges pay for everything, the coaches get stupidly lavish salaries, and the organization pockets the mega-bucks.
College sports at least give the people there a sense of pride for going there. Ya know?

For a 90's cosplay to work, they will have to ignore a few things. Like the fact Russia was in tatters, and China was much, much smaller than it is right now. I won't go into the economy, because it was doing well before the WuFlu, and who knows how it'll be now.
Well he promised a 3 month national lockdown, soo I hope everyone has plenty of commodities.

My understanding is there's a lot of influence trafficking as well, and that might be the biggest benefit for the universities.

Perhaps, but that's a *fuck ton* of money buying very limited, indirect influence. It's a bad deal for everyone except coaches and the NCAA.

The 1990’s were a way more optimistic time, we had won the Cold War, it was before 9/11, and most of our problems were minor in comparison. Though the seeds for future problems were being sown. I read a really good article not long ago about Bill Clinton and the outrageous things his administration did to help China, policies and actions which would lead to China becoming the threat to us that they currently are. I’ll have to find it.

This isn't a thread about the NBA or NCAA, if you want to talk about their political affiliations and ratings then make another thread about it.

This thread is about the election from hell.

A position I can respect on the surface of it. Trump has revitalized the party in ways we never could have imagined. Come what may, the Rep Party and Conservatives have been renewed with a new path forward. One not grounded in globalism, cynicism and always ceding ground.

Now it's a more Nationist/Populist, freedom and libertarian based and reaching across multiple demographic lines. It has turned the Leftist narrative on its head and made a mockery of it.

And I am forever thankful to him for that.
The jury is still out though on whether or not the Republicans can keep moving along those lines without Trump to lead them, or if the neocons will take back control and try to paper over everything he accomplished with the party. Personally, I would not underestimate the desire of the political class, whichever side of the left/right "divide" they happen to be on, to destroy the legacy of an outsider.

Well he promised a 3 month national lockdown, soo I hope everyone has plenty of commodities.

and he double backed by saying he has to ask the mayors and govenors to enforce it, so essentially nothing different than what some have already done. Blue States are absolutly doomed but if Red states keep thier spines then this can easily be weathered if not profited from. Our #1 enimies should worst comes to worse will be antifa.

In GA you have to sign a sheet saying it is you are someone allowed to fill it out for you. It goes to match your signature from the past.
You know for all the importance we place on signatures we sure don't teach cursive in public schools anymore and haven't for quite some time. Seriously I for one have the least consistent signature pretty much imaginable

Or their willingness to practically merge and have the same set of beliefs and values and same awkward weird shit

I’ve seen Ayn Rand fans and Land Lord Lovers on reddit who spend more time hating on Drumpf than any of the democrats

The Ayn Rand guys even thought of Mark Zuckerburg as a hero or a Gail Wynand or Hank Rearden

I mean, The 90s brought us the adverb wako'ed. I fear we may see a bunch of right wingers, right wingers being people right of Mao would be wakoed. And I mean, with antifia they don't even have to implicate federal agents!

So a few notes to make, just cuz I’m in the mood.

-Trump did make some small in roads with minority voters. Clearly this was not enough. And it came indirectly or otherwise at the cost of his working class white support in the Midwest. The Republican Party can not win with Cubans and anti communist Venezuelans. It simply can’t. Trump’s gains in the black community were marginal. Not bad for a Republican but it will never be enough. Peeling away 10-12% of the black vote will not win elections.

-The Jared Kushner plan/2012 Autopsy, basically republicans need to ditch their loyal supporters for minorities was implemented. It has been shown to be a failure.

-The Republican Party does not have any real loyalty in the rust belt. Trump promised economic restoration and didn’t deliver. The republicans will never be a working class party. They are too bound to conventional economics of their donors. Trump won by promising not to be a Republican economically. He was one.

-I hate to use Pol slang, but it is somewhat of a cope to say “well we kept the Senate!”, yes we did but do you expect Harris will let that stop her? Executive orders will be implemented and unlike with Trump she will have the federal bureaucracy behind her. Obviously there are limits to that but the democrats will work night and day to prevent any Republican resurgence.

-Republicans may gain the house in 2022. They may not. I do not personally expect it to matter too much. As the republicans have shown themselves to useless in actually achieving anything. They didn’t get rid of Section 230, or assist trump with the border wall. It’s as if their terrified of actually wielding power.

-I expect Republican energy to be divided and wasted in 2024. The Democrats will likely win a second term. There will be some “trumpian” candidates that are perhaps more edgy than Mitt Romney, but none will win any support in the rust belt, and the energy will otherwise be dissipated amongst various factions in the party.

-The notion the US is unified or has any common purpose or values ought to be shattered for anyone with eyes to see. Neither the liberals hope of a nation awokened or Q’s silly nonsense about a trump landslide have proven to have any analytical worth. The question is how much longer can this stretched breaking tent called the USA be held together? Or will one side triumph over the other? I suspect the latter.

-Anyways, I do think there is some room for optimism. The trump presidency has lessons to teach us. These include:

-the federal bureaucracy and deep State are not our friends. They align ideologically with Neo liberalism and its subordinate ideologies.
-Being a populist requires actually governing as one.
-To fight the first item on the list, loyalists must be installed and resistance purged quickly and decisively. Else it will either depose your or render your agenda ineffectual.
-Liberals and leftists are as vicious as they are childish. They do not consider losses legitimate or believe that their enemies have beliefs that should be respected. After all racism be bad yo!
-the media is in total alignment, anyone who wishes to claim the media is unbiased now is a liar. Or a fool. But even fools ought to know by now, the media considers itself a moral guardian and believed it has the right to tell the public what to believe and think. It coordinates and works with the rest of the system.
-Most of the Republican Party, the Lincoln project etc... is in total alignment with the above. It is also not our friend.

The Trump era has revealed the true nature of our enemies, and our supposed “allies”. It has shown what sort of governance works and how it can be obstructed. It has shown the power of delusion, and the efficacy of lies so long as they have official imprimatur.

We must take these lessons into the future.
