Cyberpunk 2077

The 1.1 Patch has dropped... Which will not only offer many stability improvements but also provide a foundation for future patchening.

Also random bit of behind the scenes pertaining to Johnny Silverhands original concept art.

Keanu Reeves was a definite improvement.

The original johnny silverhand looks like Razorfist

The rollercoaster for CDPR just keeps going.

Hackers stole the source code for Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 along with tribes of other data including accounting, HR and other corporate data as well as unreleased and never released material for various older games.

Apparently it was a ransomware style attack though CDPR has backups and stated they won't pay the hackers who dud steal the data.

Looks like the Hackers auctioned off the data though to who is unknown and apparently there were conditions for no further distribution of the stolen data.

Ignoring all of the technical issues with the game, I figured out what my biggest problems with 2077 are.

1) Life path is basically meaningless. One quest and some different conversation options does not a meaningful choice make. Especially not when the different conversation options tend to amount to a trite throwaway line that doesn't do anything or really matter.

2) To use Shadowrun terms, the game basically forces you to play pure Pink Mohawk and even the "professional" Solo's act like babies first runner.

3) Everyone but V sticks to the same "uniform" for the whole game regardless of how out of place it is. Judy is probably the worst at this with regards to going on jobs with you. I mean this is a trivial fix coding wise, just give characters a list of clothing options and have them be randomly selected each day with it being forced in some situations and weighted towards their "favored" clothes.

4) The various Skyrim sex mods produce more natural looking character movements and character models. Most of those people could probably be hired for a pittance and their name in the credits.

5) None of your choices really matter. The only faction that you can affiliate with is the hookers and you never really make enemies of anyone despite behavior that should get you on their shit lists. I mean say you kill the Tyger Claw bosses? Have Wakako suddenly refuse to have anything to do with you unless, perhaps, you do some quest to resolve the situation. Have the Tyger Claw's put a big out bounty on your head and from now on, when you run around NC you will get randomly attacked by Tyger Claw affiliates (and independent merc's) looking to cash in.

And that leads into 6) add a real affiliation system with both positives and negatives.

7) Actually offer corpo jobs. Like Stout? You take her side in the Maelstrom mission and she puts you on MiliTech's list of approved contractors. As it is, basically every single job that you are offered is essentially a "street" job. I mean where is the job to jack a Delemain to cause a suit to miss a meeting, for example? Or the frame job so that one corpo rat can get promoted over another?

Oh, and 8) better Cyberware options. I mean the vast majority of them are basically just stat boosts of one description or another. Besides the cyberdeck improvements the only actual capability improvement is the double jump. Where are the vision enhancements? We know that at least thermal is a thing given the other characters who have it, but it's not a choice for you. And my god, a decent low light/night vision option would be huge. What is with the last few generations of RPG's and their refusal to have decent lighting or at least the ability to make it daylight bright via augmentation/spell/etc.

IMO, I actually blame Gopher and the people like him for that and various other things besides. Him and people like him bitch and moan incessantly about how the darkness/nights in games are "too bright" and actively mod their games until their screens are almost pitch black. The issue comes when their huge followings parrot their opinions constantly and act like it's actually some huge, game-ruining flaw, which forces the devs to cater to their bullshit if they don't want to get BTFO.

Huh. I always figured they made the game so dark so it would be harder to see errors in their mapping and texturing, same with making everything brown, hazy, and covering every surface with lens flares. I didn't realize people actually wanted those things, I just thought it was to coverup bad game design.

Realistic lighting (i.e. pitch black actually being pitch black) is fine.

You just also add ways to deal with it. Elder Scrolls, for example, already had the Night Eyes spell but they cut it from Skyrim for some insane reason.

In the case of Cyberpunk, night vision glasses and/or cyber eyes are a must. My god one of the first things that would get put in cybereyes of any description is light amplification.

And in Cyberpunk, cybereyes already being able to offer thermographic vision is canon. Yet it's not something that you can get.

I guess it was one of many victims to the massive restructioning of the game once the developers got Keanu Reeves on board.
I like that guy, but apparently some genius in marketing thought now that he was on board they had to include him in every way possible to squeeze that dollar out of his investment.

Apparently Cyberpunk 2077 is back on Sony's Playstation Store for the PS4 buuuut few are still recommending it for that particular console.

The Sony listing officially states, "“Purchase for use on PS4 systems is not recommended.", which is a pretty huge deal considering under any normal circumstances a company would never *officially* say anything like that for fear of being sued for "sabotaging" sales of the game. CD Projekt Red is of course downplaying this, but still admits, "Users may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms".

Cyberpunk 2077 is facing two lawsuits, from opposite ends of America, and dealt with by two different law firms as investors feel they were deceived by CDPR over the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 game and now want to recoup their lost investment in the company. Typically in lawsuits like these, the plaintiffs tend to have to prove bad faith on behalf of the game company, so chances are this is just a whiny money grab by some investors hoping for some sort of settlement after pushing CDPR to release the game early in the first place.

Looks like at least one of the lawsuits (or rather four lawsuits consolidated into one) finished with a settlement of 1.85 million dollars.

The long anticipated 1.5 Patch has been released for Cyberpunk 2077 and it hasn't solved making your character any less ugly sadly. But while the still rare option of transmogrification isn't on the table, it apparently did add a large number of quality of life style changes.

If you look ugly, it's cause you aren't willing to lose stats for style. I managed a pretty good combo.

I have a huge problem ATM, I am very glad about everything they patched, but I literally have nothing more to do in the game.
I clocked in over 110 hours, I did every quest, side gig and almost every gang fight/NCPD scanner mission, got every ending.
My build is not made for H2H combat, so beat the Brat is the only thing I haven't done, and the other two character archetypes are just kinda boring compared to fallen corp.

What I really want/need is for an expansion/mission pack, one that adds more top tier gigs, maybe even generates them procedurally.

I think there is the one mod that adds extra quests, so I might try that.

Anyone tried it?

They will add more after they fix the game iirc

I played it after patch 1.3 came out, and while there were a few bugs the thing crashed maybe once and required me loading a save because of a bug once or twice.
Of course weird explosions and physics were a thing, but they didn't detract from the experience any.

TBH having the map repopulate with criminal activity/Scanner missions wouldn't have been that hard to do and they could have put that in at least.
