Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077, by the same people who brought the Witcher series including the highly regarded Witcher 3 into Gamers hands, has been working on their new RPG based on the popular pen and paper RPG setting Cyberpunk originally written and developed by Michael Pondsmith.

It's planned to be an open world (in a city setting of course) first person RPG. CD Projekt Red has been developing the game for years, with it originally having been announced way back in 2012. It's release date has been postponed twice this year but has apparently entered its final certification phase with a planned release on November 19th, 2020.

The core game isn't expected to be as long as The Witcher 3 but will apparently have between 50-60 hours of gameplay and the developers are planning on releasing more DLC for this game then they did with the third Witcher game. It also still offers Keanu Reeves presumably as an NPC character. :p

Who complained about the Witcher 3 being too long? People actually complain about good games being too long? Was it GAMES JOURNALISTS?!?!?!

They should poll more Skyrim and Fallout fans about RPG game length... there's a lot of crossover between the fandoms I bet! ;)

Has anybody had a chance to play this yet? What do you think of it?

I loved the tabletop RPG, but I haven't bought a triple A game for years. This is tempting me, though.

You can see a downgrade in graphics between the original trailer that had everybody hyped to 11 and what they are showing now. Not much, but noticeable.

There is still a long way ahead of us, before our technology will match the ability to bling up the trailers.

The Cyberpunk 2077 dev team is working overtime to make their release date and thus contradicting earlier promises made by the developer that they wouldn't do just that.

Not sure if needed to be honest. What's the opportunity cost in just pushing back the release date? They still got time before the Holidays.

Edit: Developer responded

Lore Video on the Districts of Night City, the urban setting of Cyberpunk 2077.

Also a 'Seize the Day' TV spot starring Keanu Reeves.

CDPR had the developers vote on whether or not they'd do overtime to make the release date and the developers voted yes.

Aaaaaaand the release date has been pushed back to December 10th. Not a real biggie I suppose.

Y'know, stuff like this makes me believe that it would be better if they just pushed back to december 2021. Might be a tad late, but then they would have more time to get it right.

Important developments related to Cyberpunk 2077 and its adoption by next generation consoles... one in particular.

Several observations

1: There's a KFC Gamers Group that is so official and well known that it has a blue checkmark and I didn't know about it???

2: Gaming and Consuming Fried Chicken is something I've oft dreamed of (and I know I'm not the only one) and I know I'm not the only one whose tried it... but... it's far from ideal. Even if you are a complete slob... which I am not... yet. What will KFC's new console do to mitigate the obvious drawbacks of gaming whilst eating fried chicken?

3: Point two doesn't matter. Any console that supports 4K and 120 FPS as well as has a dedicated chicken chamber for preparing delicious pressure cooked KFC style fried chicken has to be finger-clicking good.

A Kentucky-Fried Console with a Chicken Chamberis the LAST thing my waistline needs after the last few months (and with the big food holidays coming up in the US), so I can't be too disappointed.

Not too bent over the delay on Cyberpunk either. CDPR did the same multi-delay thing with Witcher, I recall, and it turned out pretty solid. Of course, since I utterly lack any PC solid enough to run it and refuse to shell out for a console, I don't have much opening for disappointment anyways. :p

Plenty of cyberpunk-y media of other kinds to scratch that itch. If I ever get really energetic might even investigate the actual 'Cyberpunk 20-whatever' background stuff.
