Anyways enough about me:

Based White Supremacist Trump Appointed US District Judge Rossie Alston has halted the removal of the Confederate Monument just as the wreckers were preparing to tear it down.

Hmm, ok, the claim is taking this out will disturb grave sites...my impression was this was a general memorial, not an actual grave site.

The judge sounds like he wants to know very exactly what is being claimed and by who.

If this thing was an actual grave, instead of a general memorial put up later on an empty plot, that changes things.

It's a massive memorial that is in the middle of a cemetery, it's literally surrounded by gravesites and depending on how close those sites are to the memorial, it may well be they cannot remove it without disturbing those nearby graves due to the heavy machinery required.

There's four graves at the four corners (IIRC) of the memorial including of the Sculptor.

Heavy lift helo's are a thing, as are extendable cranes with weight spreaders.

But if there are graves at the four corners of the monument, that makes it an actual burial, and would run afoul of the rules put in the Renaming Committee against disturbing graves and remains.

If someone tried to pull a fast one and tried to remove this using paperwork that didn't mention the graves/remains directly as a part of the memorial, that's going to come out I expect.

*reads back*

Wait. Did you legitimately not know that people were buried there? 🙈
I meant I did not think this particularly edifice also had actual remains in it's foundation or structure.

I thought it was near graves in the cemetery, like other statues, not a grave/tomb itself.

how about not jumping to destroy national monuments in the first place friend?
I've said before my line is at graves, and I still think the group doing this work for the military is justified, though maybe misinformed, or needlessly callus if they *will* go after graves.

The Confederacy will never be erased from history books, no one should fear anyone forgetting what they did, just because they are not glorified in public by the US anymore.

There is no pride in the Confederacy as a cause, no amount of soldiers honor changes the horrors that still occurred under ex-Confederates, and their 'Lost Cause' pushing descendants, towards their former slaves and others for generations till the Civil Rights era came around.

Edit: African American families and others who lost family and friends to the Klan or Confederacy certainly won't let history forget.
