Wrong Friedman. Milton Friedman is the economist; George Friedman (no relation AFAIK) is the guy who founded Stratfor and is a specialist in geopolitics. And his track record is actually pretty good.

Edit: I will look into the economics side, I got some lessons on Keynes and Galbraith, enough to convince me no one side has all the answers.
Misread the Friedman you were referring to ...

As for Galbraith. The plot of his novel Tenured Professor: an econ professor manages to outsmart Wall Street with a homemade "Index of Irrational Expectations" so good that he's accused of insider trading when he was doing no such thing because insiders were tracking his trades and using that information to make their own trades.

Update on the Yemen situation:

Looks like the 'embassy' is the old Embassy compound that was 'closed' several years ago, but still had Yemeni staff and security personnel acting as an 'unofficial' embassy. It seems it was mostly the security staff who were taken and not released.

I'm just wondering what the line is, what the point is where the grill bois will finally get off their ass and give a shit.
Wherever that line is; once we cross it, things are going to get nasty real quick. People are going to be quite literally at each other's throats, whether they be complete strangers, friends, or even family, and whoever survives will get to write the history books about what really happened.

It's not the grill bois who can save us, it's the truckers, ATC controllers and other essential/important positions keeping shit functional that we need to wake up.

A non-commie Worker's Revolution, to toss the bums out of politics and Wall Street/Silicon Valley, and actually save the Constitution from the DC rot, would be something the powers in DC are not equipped to deal with or repel if it got momentum and backing from state level govs.

"Wants to eliminate personal bank accounts"...what the ever loving fuck are the Dems thinking.

They probably assume that most Americans don't know how powerful the OCC actually is and so who cares about putting a lunatic like this in charge of some government agency nobody has heard of, etc, etc, while in reality it has the potential to cause all sorts of problems. Putting an outright Communist in charge of the U.S. is the sort of thing that will be an inevitable disaster.

On the other hand...it may not work given just how angry everyone is getting at Biden and Co.

Oh, and Ron Klain accidentally gave the game away with a re-tweet about using the OSHA emergency thing for vaccines as a way to "get around" the Constitution. Unfortunately for him, the Fifth Circuit caught it and promptly slapped Biden and Co down.

United States Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) making announcement on his political future tomorrow.

Guess his plans:
A.) Seeking reelection in 2022

B.) Retirement

My guess is 'B' but who knows. Unless he has health problems, he'd probably be better off retiring now since it's quite possible (we can hope) the Democrats wind up in the minority in 2023.

Incidentally, shouldn't there be a separate thread for this sort of stuff? Leahy isn't part of the administration (hell it's nothing to do with the executive branch).

It's going to be A. McCain wouldn't leave until he died, and he had a friggin brain tumor. I doubt anyone who's been in politics for a long length of time would get out until they're forced out.

Working on one right now.

Fight fight fight.

Politico had a similar piece in late June, and NR was talking about it and some other problems (including the infamous NASA video where they had to bring in child actors and screenwriters).

She’s bad at dealing with people, and bad at being a manager. She can’t think on her feet, and remember that her own presidential campaign cratered. She was brought in to please the woke brigades, and like all of Biden’s other efforts to do so, it’s backfired spectacularly.
