Overview
A decreipt Succession Wars era ENF-4R that is given to the troublesome sons of the Gloster family from the York,
when they ship the off to the LCAF to cease being a nuisance. It's current owner went to great lengths to upgrade the
machine to more survivable standards, despite continious sandbagging by the regimental aide, hauptman Liebling.

Capabilities
A far cry from the machine that arrived with the green leutnant, Federated Autocannonthe has been replaced with
Defiance Disentigrator, freeing also tonnage for additional ammo. Most importantly though, the old temperamental
Nissan 200 has been reworked and upgraded to handle double heat sinks in off the records refurbishment that
regimental aide still wants to hang hauptman Gloster for. This enabled the mech to handle the full heat load and
replace old, difficult to focus, large laser with Snub-Nose PPC and add CASE to the ammo storage.

History
Hauptman Edmund ''Schwarzotter'' Gloster is war weary and deeply cynical officer, any notions of patriotism and lust
for glory he might once held are long gone, his main ambition now is to survive the endless idiocies of the regimental
commander Colonel Melchett Hogarth. To that end he learned to creatively interpret his orders and continues to push
for the upgrade of the troublesome communications suite through official channels.

Had some fun with a crazypants theory about the most crazypants person in Battletech, so I thought I'd crosspost it here. Why was somebody as nuts as Romano able to hold the Capellan Confederation together, fend off Hanse Davion, and even bring it's crumpling structure back together for almost 20 years?

Theory: she has one of Battletech's rare superpowers, specifically she can see the future to a degree. She did somehow know, after all, to name her crazypants murderess daughter "Kali" and her genius son "Sun-Tzu." Imagine how embarassing it would be if she got them backwards and the Thugee cultist was Sun-Tzu while the genius was Kali. So clearly Romano has an ability to predict the future and used that to make sure her kids were named appropriately, and also to hold the Capellan Confederation together. She bided her time until the Clan invasion when she foresaw getting the advantage, and making sure Sun-Tzu was in position to take their territory back after that fiasco unfolded.

What about her crazy desire for revenge? All faked. Against a genius of Hanse's caliber with the ridiculous military power of the Federated Commonwealth, Romano knew she needed to appear like a complete idiot so he would presume she was barely hanging on and feel free to concentrate on other enemies, so she did her barking-mad Captain Planet-Villain level incompetence act whenever she knew an agent of Hanse's was near. This ensured that he underestimated the Capellans and left them alone long enough for her to rebuild the CC. You might wonder why she didn't predict her own death and kill Candace at that point. She did. Candace killed a doppleganger Romano had prepared ahead of time. Romano was ready to retire at that point and foresaw that for no apparent reason, Candace would spare Sun-Tzu (probably also arranged in advance by Romano via propaganda she foresaw would influence Candace's familiar feelings) so she wasn't worried about Capella anymore. Romano lived to 150 years old living out her quiet retirement sipping drinks on a beach and playing the cello in the evenings.

I came across this while playing Mechwarrior 5 and found out that House Davion knows what truly matters in life.

I'm guessing that's unknown to the Galaxy at large otherwise everyone would have said screw HPGs and gone for Terra to aquire said coffee makers

Very true. Plus In theory ROM is there to prevent anyone from recovering the tech to make them.

Everything was good until the clans showed up with improved SLDF coffee makers. They lost their monopoly and their main source of keeping recruits. ComStar went mad.

Liao takes after their Russian side in that matter. They have morning tea but it's usually clear, very strong... and brewed from potatoes.

This would theoretically give them resistance to ComStar but carries it's own incompetence-inducing issues...

The insinuations that Russians brew anything else from potatos but vodka are preposterous. Ironically they are amongst the biggest tea fans on the continent, this is however overshadowed by their love of alcohol.

Please don't make me explain the joke.

So, I'm working on sorting out my collection and planned collection of mechs into a proper organized formations, and I'm having some trouble with unit composition, and was hoping maybe you guys could help. I'm basically trying to pin down what a standard-ish star looks like in terms of unit roles.

So for example, right now I've been leaning toward a formation like this:

Artillery (Longbow, Deimos, Viking IIC, etc)
Long range heavy gunner (Hellstar, a clan tech Devastator, Nightstar 9J, etc)
Generalist/multirole (Doloire, Omen, Bullshark, etc)
Specialist (malice, black knight red reaper, King Crab)
Other (Highlander 734, Tenshi, Lu Wei Bing)

As I'm defining things, artillery mechs are designed to stay at long range and engage from there with relatively low damage weapons (IE, the Deimos is on that list despite it's relatively low throw weight of missiles, because it's got a half dozen UAC-2s).
Long range heavy gunners have more than two weapons that can headcap as primary weapons and then only secondary's (IE, the Doloire B isn't a gunner, because despite carrying twin CERPPCs, it's also got RAC-5 that pushes it into somewhat closer ranges)
Generalists cannot headcap (Omen, Bullshark), while multiroles can but also have additional primary weapons that cannot (Doloire, Mad Cat Mk 2)

Specialists are a bit more vague, they're clearly built around a single role or weapon system (IE, the Malice and it's massive battery of LBX autocannons, the red reaper's melee combat built, the king crab is a close range combat specialist).

And then there's slot 5, which I can't quite figure out a good term for, they're mostly mechs with a single big gun and then various addition weapons, but that don't quite feel like a multirole to me (for reason I can't quite put my fingers on). A Tenshi prime just feels very different than a Doloire prime, despite their generally similar damage output.

Anyone have any ideas?
