main thing I guess would be if you do say it doesn't factor in the militias of a planet you might be talking half again as much in cheaper 2nd line mechs. wouldn't expect them to have awesomes but some hermes IIs or a salvaged dragon or a Large laser panther? absolutely. course what is a militia mech and what is a family mech likely has a fair amount of crossover.

So a stupid question for you guys. my brother has fallen in love with the jackrabbit as a light mech. I am sure it is bad but also might be fun to run. anyone else got any thoughts on it?

AC using lights... well I guess if he's a glutton for pain
it is only 414 bv. and the AC2 is rather long range. it has a streak 2 for a backup. no jumps but alright speed... I know it is gonna be painful for him but it is dirt cheap if nothing else... but that is probably a cope. on my part. but we will likely see. worst case scenario those 3d prints won't be used much.

Genuinely one of the more terrible 'mechs ever made in the game, not only for its own stats but how it reveals all the holes in the game's balance just by existing. Unfortunately, the Devs have the bad habit of handing "bad guy" factions inferior designs.

The sad thing is I too do love the Jackrabbit and I wish there was a way to make it work. Unfortunately I have to even disagree that it's cheap, Sure, at 417 it's not staggeringly expensive but your basic Wasp 1A is only 384, or you can get a bog standard Stinger 3R for 359. The Locust 1V runs slightly more expensive at 432 but is probably the best of the bugmechs.

The stupid Jackrabbit even costs more to play than the cheaper, more ubiquitous bugmechs that are all faster and have enough firepower to rip it apart in short order. Well, at least it's slightly better armored than Wasps and Stingers.

As far as actually playing it, I've tried and your best bet is to put it in a medium lance. It can at least get a few light hits in at range provided it has something bigger and tougher to be in the way of whatever's going to retaliate, and AC/2s provide some protection from ASF.

The Joker version is significantly better, trading the AC/2 for a Large Laser and an extra ton of armor makes it a very dependable light brawler. However, it's also over 600BV which is painfully high for a 20-ton 'mech.

How many different types of mechs are there in Battletech? Inner Sphere Circa 3025? I'm asking because it feels like they just keep adding more and more and more mechs but it doesn't make sense.

a fair number of the new mechs are being added into the new stuff. I.E. the Ilclan era. some SLDF designs have been added over time but I think they generally had lower production numbers and mostly died out in the succession wars.

Forty-three 'mechs are still being manufactured in the lostech era with an Inner Sphere tech base, per the (mostly reliable) Master Unit List. Note that this includes some one-offs like the Liberator and the Bounty Hunter's custom Marauder. This is also total models, so f'rex three of these are different types of Urbanmech and two are Hunchbacks.

That's right folks. CGL has decided the best way to advertise the new battletech stuff is to have a pride anthology. because nothing says battletech like a bunch of queer/gay/bi/trans characters in stories made solely to tell you that gays exist. and they are even making it free so everyone can see the quality of their writing they usually make people pay for.

june sucks and I can't wait till MAGA month rolls around.

And another reason I have stopped supporting CGL. Dumped money into the Clan Kickstarter, but NOTHING into the Mercenaries one.

I love how 'let's pander to an audience that doesn't particular care about the hobby at the expense of our fanbase' it is. /s

Like if someone LGBTQ+ was playing BT, they've already got a lance full of gays. BT is an even better version of 'your dudes' than a number of wargames.

Do they not realize people play BT to have fun with stompy robots? Where does rainbow pride actually fit into that? When does it matter?

The lore? Neo-feudal politics, adoption, 1000 years, and the Iron Womb mean that the experience of the average homosexual mechwarrior is radically different than it is for a RL queer person. If it's true to lore then 99/100 then the story is going to catch flack by how unimportant that person being gay is from people who probably don't even play or enjoy BT. If it goes full rainbow then the story is going to catch flack the dedicated fanbase.

3D printers and loose pdfs from here on out.

CGL is a scummy corp anyways, weren't there relatively massive scandals in the Shadowrun 5e and 6e releases involving not paying contractors or stealing art or something?

Hate to see the fandom get infiltrated, but after the community got slammed with 40k refugees, I think it was inevitable. Much infiltration.

Most gay, bi, and lesbians who are fans of franchises like Battletech are just regular people like you or I: they don't want/care about all this pandering shit. They want stompy robots and big guns.

The issue is that these moronic companies who think they're pandering to these normal people aren't: they're pandering to the deviants, weirdos, and freaks you see, for example, openly fucking in pride parades, walking around in fetish gear et cetera, and who make their sexuality their defining personality trait.

That, or their "allies" who do things on what they arrogantly presume their behalf, e.g. the Twittertards.

And now with all the grooming shit these covert pedos, weirdos, freaks, and exhibitionists are doing that's coming to light? Yeah, any company that buys into "Pride Month" are fucking morons slitting their own proverbial throats.
