PC Gaming Baldurs Gate 3

Please, take the waifu and fap material debate to general gaming.
To hopefully close - BG3 does not follow the aesthetics of Japanese cRPG (for which I used FF as example) hence no waifu material there. And Larian are edgey. Pretty faces and bigger b00bies will be provided by modders.

So has anyone here played this game yet? I saw a few videos on youtube and said fuck it ill buy it. Its currently sitting at 73% on the download. I'm just wondering if I fucked up and wasted 60$ or not.
I and a few more people on this board are playing it.
I like it very much.
To whet your whistle:

Naturaly, serious gameplay as a world saving Paladin also is an option :)

@Agent23 - casting your Male Gaze upon ugly mugs alternatively attractive faces of female characters can be avoided by
a/ enclosed helmets
b/ not recruiting them in the first place

Not sure how reflective they are of the whole game, but the clips I've seen made me want to avoid the game like the plague, as it seemed to be designed for a particular demographic who wanted more homosexuality and bestiality in their video games. Moreover, the story seems to follow on from a retconning of the events in Baldur's Gate 2 that makes any pretense of this game being a sequel to it a boldfaced lie.

From what I understand it isn't reflective of it at all.
Again, ask the ones here

And very detailed dwarves...

But then, some of us Slavs do have a thing for bears.

In any case

Even if the info/opinions/rumors about this game weren't all over the place I still have a huge backlog.

Sadly, there is lots of homosexual stuff BUT you have to seek it out. So far I've not had any yaoi or yuri shoved in my face.
As to bestality - i.e. High Elves living up to their image of being total perverts and doing "it" with bears or - SHUDDERS - gnomes - again you have to very actively seek this out - you have to play as a certain character, add a certain character to the party, follow a long line of dialogue choices ...
I agree that the LGBT, bestality, shaved vulvas on male characters, penises and facial hair on females, disgusting piercings or tatoos are revolting, but one can play without having contact with the disgusting stuff. And this barfalicious stuff is all over cRPG games ATM ... 😭 ::poop:
where is the vomit emote when you need it?

The snarky/edgy teenagerism of the game, the "who can fart loudest?" or "who make smelliest poop?" humour is at times irritating, I admit.

As to being a sequel to BG1/2 - some see a glass half empty, some - half full.
Retcon of events? Well, it sure is! In my BG2 gameplay Auntie Jaheira DIED!!!!1 So did Best Girl Viconia. Hence their presence in BG3 is a TRAVESTY!
It is set in the same area, some characters are regurgitated, the selling power of the BG name is immense - I can roll with that.
But if you see it differently - no problem :D

After getting a hang of the game after changes from EA, I'm starting my own playthrough and I'm fairly set on going with either

Team Evul!:
1&2 Bitches 'R' US, i.e. the LE and NE girls
3 - me - Half Orc Shaman Kielbasa, Nature Domain, who bludgeoning his foes with his Mighty Sausage

salami_weapon_bg3_wiki_guide_150px.png

As I'm Nature Domain - I get the Druidic Cantrip with difficult Irish name which transforms the salami into a d8+2 magic weapon and which now works off WIS and not STR.
13 8 16 10 16 12 (STR later brought up with Heavy Armour Master Feat to 14)
My character would fit right in with the less bright characters in Dukes of Hazzard :p;
Polish idiom - "freshly shaken out off a tree" :D - hence Background "Outlander";
He also gets to use the "Nature's servant is ready!" line :p
Will multiclass into Fighter/Champion to bring glory to Gruumsh. WAAAGH!
4 - undecided. Should be the baddest Bad Boy of them all, Astarion CE, but I can't stomach him as party member, so probably Gale NN/CN. Maybe a Hireling - but I'd lose out on dialogues and Inspirations

Team Kick Ass for Goodness
1 - Drow/Half-Drow Sword Dancer Rorrikoniel, i.e. Miss SBBBBBBW - Spectaculary Beautiful Big Boned Brawny Ball Busting Woman
15 10 14 8 16 12 (STR later brought up with Heavy Armour Mistress Feat to 16)
A follower of Elistraee, the CG Drow Goddess of Fencing and Perfomance Arts, in Priestess School she has shown herself to be dumb as rocks but regularly won the troll tossing event, hence the High Priestesses Council decided to put her impressive physique to appropriate use and prepared her for missionary work in dangerous places. Hence War Domain and background "Soldier".
Will multiclass into Bard/College of Swords as
She can sing! She can dance! She can play the tamburine!
2 - Karlach - the two will get along like a house on fire :)
3 - Wyll - he hates GAWBLINS! hence Best Boy status.
4 - Gale?
Team KAFG lacks a 2nd healer - I hate having only one (especially one mostly interested in prancing about and chopping up nasties with a two-hander while singing "I'm a party girl ..." ). I will find some remedy eventualy - one of the boys either gets respecified, multiclasses or gets the Cleric Adept Feat.

Now stream it somewhere and make sure to backup on YouTube. :)

Make sure you use kurwa often, too.

I'd rather not take the chance of accidentally stumbling across that sort of content though, even if I can theoretically avoid it.

Not exactly what I was referring to. It seems that BG3 uses the absolutely abysmal novelizations' version of the first two games' events, that barely resembles anything that actually happened, or could have happened, in them.

I tried a warlock critical failure on every intelligence roll so I said fuck it and made a meathead barbarian to play around with and got 20's on every intelligence roll.

LOL! Shit happens :D
Check settings for "Karmic Dice" - few understand what these are, but the consensus 'round the community is that "dey makes weird shit happen".

What the hell? Everyone loathed those. The Minsc comics even decanonised them!

As to Bg1/2 and BG3 continuity - I was amused by the Druids' continuing vicious infighting.

Difficult to quantify.
It is much more complex - twenty years of progress (although lack of day/night cycle is retrograde - grumpy noises in Might&Magic VI). Double the races (although racial differences almost obliterated), double the classes - and twoscore or so subclasses.
As to size - three maps but with many, many more areas and much more detail.
Each of the 6/7 pre-made characters offer a different playthrough, due to their (sob)backstories. You can play a custum character too.
You can buy and - if under 120 minutes of playtime - delete and get a refund. But bewarre - spending an hour on class and subclass choice AND customising appearance (which counts as playtime) is not unheard off, so just use the defult stats and skill choices and mugs :)

I'm never going to buy this game, but the technical aspects interest me. "Fallout 76" was similar.

Remember, I was around when "Pong" hit the arcades. Some of these projects make me wonder how big a project can get before it becomes too big to succeed. Literally too big to succeed.

FWIW my Little Boy is playing Fallout 76 and BG3 both :)
I'm fairly sure that Larian had to expand (to 400 people?) to make this game.

Thing is, when I say "too big to succeed" I mean it literally.

Okay, you want to program a game retro-style, say like an early 1990s DOS game- "Foxtail" and "Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard" are examples. You could quite literally do this alone with an engine like AGS 2.3.1, and sell it on Steam or GOG.

This means you know everything about what has been happening on that project, just as I do with my AGT game. Good or bad, it is on you, of your doing. Assuming the code is not total trash and you have been keeping track somewhat if there is a problem you know where and even what it may be.

This can apply to several people, especially if each has a specialized part- say Bob handles the graphics, Ned handles the music, etc.

Notice how these projects would be small and only involve a few people?

But if you have hundreds of people, especially diversity hires and the time and money wasting troubles we get these days, working on a gigantic project the likes we couldn't imagine in the days of "Zaxxon," then a chaotic mess must result. This then requires plenty of repairs, if it ever works at all. The bigger the project gets (imagine one that makes "Fallout 76" look like "Wizardry 1") the worse this must get.
