That's because the Bloodraven was an adult with decades worth of life experience behind him, he had lived a full life prior to his "merger" with the Weirwood tree.
So is not Bloodraven? Well yes, but technically no. Its basically a generic surface of Bloodraven, with the raven symbolism being something for us book fans to notice.

You know, in-hindsight, I think the biggest difference between Bloodraven and Bran is that the latter doesn't exactly have the sort of skill/power of the first

Bloodraven from what I can understand, was and still is able to essentially warg through multiple animals at the same time, which explains how he was such an effective Master of Whispers

Bran's mind and brain and even his identity could get lost if he gets that kind of awareness

Say, I know this has been said before, but how would the North and Night's Watch take the existence of a non-South-invading Kingdom-Beyond-The-Wall, ruled by say the Thenns?

Part lordly House-Fiefdom and/or part Wildling/Barbarian Clan-Confederation, with the latter possibly having its leaders more-or-less elected than just inherited

Would the Night's Watch receive even less support if it's kinda confirmed that whatever new 8th Kingdom of Westeros isn't hostile?

Martin doesn't sweat the "small stuff" basically.

Honestly, seems to me that Aegon The Conqueror and his grandson Jaeherys and much later Egg/Aegon The Unlikely, were practically "revolutionary" for making things like the kingsroad, banning the Right of The First Night, making it so that a Lord can't so easily just divorce a wife and delegitimatise existing heirs and whatever Smallfolk Rights that Egg made up

Everybody else in Westeros in power or wanting power, mostly has in mind "More Rape, More Lands, More Political Marriages, More InterHouse Grudges, More Alcohol, More Douchey Unstable Machismo, More Showing Martial Prowess etc" and not much else

This sort of thinking's pretty much ancient since the King Hightower who let the Citadel be a thing was mostly just "honouring" the brother he looked down on for being bookish

It's as if the majority of them are all dumb, anti-intellectual, "manly obsessed", horny, shortsightedly ambitious douchebags with barely an attempt at originality in their minds.

Aerys at the very least had random spouts of grand plans, Tywin had pretty much no real interest in changing the status quo except to put his House on the top or near enough....no real plan on using the Royal House's wealth on even building stuff for more infrastructure even

Here’s an idea.

Tywin Lannister dies at the Battle of the Greenfork.

A stray Stark arrow hits him in the neck. A freak hit.

The Lannister’s still win the battle.

I imagine the Lannister’s are shocked at this Pyrrhic victory. News would come in of Jaimie’s capture. But Tyrion would be officially heir.

The Lannister’s now have lost their head, but Tyrion and Kevan are still alive.

With Jaimie captured, and Tywin dead-the westerlands now has a succession problem. Tyrion would officially be heir and Tywin never disowned him officially, though he subtly insinuated to the lords of the west not to take Tyrion with respect.

I don’t think Kevan would usurp his nephew, but it’s a time of war. So putting power in the Imp’s hand is would make many of the westermen uneasy.

I do think Tyrion would likely assert his authority, and the westermen would not immediately oppose him.

So there are a few questions, if Tyrion is lord of the rock who goes to King’s Landing? Tyrion? Kevan? Lord Marbrand?

I’d think the Lannister host would still go to Harrenhall. Tyrion would probably not carry out the same chevauchee.

So...to make it interesting, Kevan would head to King’s Landing, with say 500 to 1,000 men.

Enough to bolster the garrison and put Cersei in her place.

While Tyrion held Harrenhal.

What would Tyrion do differently?

Probably more quills and ravens. He would send letters to the Ironborn, and also try to contact the Reach as soon as Renly died. The mountain clansmen would be used as Gregor was, for raiding and plundering the Riverlands. Tyrion would likely draw to Robb into a battle before the Walls of Harrenhall.

Robb didn’t take any such bait in canon. Would he here? I don’t think it’s guaranteed he wouldn’t. Given prejudices towards dwarfs and the Starks’ low opinion of Tyrion. “Crush the Imp and hang him by his toes on the walls”-Lord Umber

Though Kevan would more easily manipulated by Littlefinger and Varys. (Though Tyrion was too).

Ultimately, this all depends on if Kevan can hold Kong’s Landing. And if the Tyrell’s join team Lannister. If they don’t, then Stannis likely takes the city. Though Kevan will likely manage KL without some of Tyrion‘s faults. And might just hold King’s Landing even without the Tyrell’s. Sansa ends up married to Lancel. Though Stannis will likely retreat with more of his forces in tact. Assuming Oxcross still happens, Tyrion likely doesn’t give assurances to Lord Frey and Bolton. So Robb doesn’t die. At most Tyrion may get Lord Frey to defect and bar the Twins to Robb.

Beyond that I can’t really say.

Except the Tyrells either don’t sign on with Joffrey or they do later.

Stannis has more of his forces intact(assuming the siege is still unsuccessful-merely Kevan holds the walls and Stannis can not breach the gates-doing better than Tyrion).

So potentially Stannis doesn’t go to the Wall. At least at the same time. Leading to the wall falling to Mance raider.

Robb Stark fights through the Twins, in especially brutal and ferocious fighting. The Frey’s backed by Lannister promises and their own fury. Leading his tattered army, north. Hearing that his bastard brother was slain and the wall overrun.

Maybe Stannis sacks Claw Isle instead. (Say Davos dies at the Blackwater). And begins to hire eastern mercenaries, while also still holding Storm’s End. And many of the Stormlords remain loyal to Stannis.

I expect Tywin dying doesn’t change Robb’s immediate strategy too much.

Anyway early 300 AC-the war is a stalemate, with stark forces in the riverlands and north, the Lannister’s hold the capital, with the Tyrell’s joining after Stannis’s retreat. (Basically they pull a Tywin except for the violence). And Stannis holding the narrow sea isles, storm’s end, and several other castles in the Stormlands.

@The Immortal Watch Dog, @Ganurath thoughts?

Just thought why specifically are Westerosi against slavery? The Andals came from Essos where it was regular to have slaves and I guess that the First Men had “thralldom” like the Ironborn who might be a branch of them

What could have caused the social evolution that resulted in a no slave policy with a preference to just Nobles & Smallfolk?

Apparently the Faith of the Seven (which is based on Christianity) forbade slavery... even though in Real Life, Byzantines and Western Europeans alike engaged in slavery and slave trade. Though it is true that there were movements to forbid slavery, these were mostly peacemeal: oldest across-the-board laws against slave trade came actually quite late (Xin Dynasty in 9 AD, Carolingain Empire in 840 AD but only for Christians, Byzantine Empire in 900 AD but same as Franks, England in 1102., Croatia locally across years - Korčula in 1214., Bologna in 1256., Norway in 1274., France in 1315., Sweden in 1335., Poland in 1347., Ragusa in 1416. etc.).

I am curious if anyone knows any fanfiction that uses realistic distances and travel times in GOT? I mean where the distances are kept the same as George intended, but the travel time and logistics are realistic.

The issue-

The distances being realistic mean you’d never have a united Westeros or a westeros that remained so.
Yeah, that. If you kept the original distances, you're going to see a lot more Westerosi balkanization. Or a lot of "de jure" allegiances that aren't worth the paper they were written on. I'm not even sure that the canon Kingdoms (North, Riverlands, Westerlands, etc.) would be spared from this fate, and might even balkanize further.

I was thinking about how a fanfiction would go. I could see there just being a lot more isolation, and individual lords having a lot more power.

You'd have much greater linguistic and cultural differences.

So here's an idea, Valyrian adventurer in Sothoryos. There was a Valyrian noble woman who did so, maybe have her or some other character explore the continent.

Gonna bet that even the Valyrian Freehold at its height could barely really penetrate it or there were beings there that could eat dragons

King Kongs throwing massive boulders at dragons and Valyrians deciding to leave and that it wasn’t worth the resources

Idea: Somehow "something" occurs to the majority of the nobility of Westeros

They all somehow get "drunk on a dream" of a "Better World"

Or simply put they all get a "Voice in my head" that keeps on trying to guide them towards being nicer and more open minded and trying to calm them down

With the only problem they face being along the lines of "how do we properly achieve this plan, do we have enough tax money to do it, can we avoid accidentally ruining the economy along the way" and so on

Course it works only to varying degrees depending on how far gone an individual is

Varys for one is astonished about how so many of them have all changed and put their focus on "making things better" and may have a "voice in my head" as well

Vague shipping idea for a fic, Jon/Myrcella. Basically Myrcella is captured by Stannis's ships on her way to Dorne, and is held as a hostage. Would have lots of drama over whether or not to execute her, though after the Blackwater, she goes with Stannis to the Wall, as a hostage, and meets Jon.

I would age her up to be around her show age or so.

A bastard who was a princess and a prince who was a bastard. I like the idea, because I'm a sucker for symmetry.

There'd be more conflicts and other butterfly effects of Myrcella's capture, notably Arianne never tries to crown her, Tyrion's screw up leads to a greater deal of hostility from his sister and father. Anyways, eventual Jon King, Myrcella Queen, though getting there would involve a lot of finangling.

Idea: The Others/White Walkers come to The Wall, before King Robert arrives at Winterfell for "negotiations" and have even done Bread&Salt with the frankly terrified Night's Watch who are looking for Dragonglass weapons just-in-case but don't want to break Guest Right

Ned Stark has to do negotiations

And hope Robert doesn't get too eager for a war against them

I brought this up before at some point or another but Cersei PD style looping fic.

Cersei dies at some point in the future. I guess she either dies at casterly rock around the time where Dream of Spring would be, but I guess having her be executed at her trial in the beginning of Winds works too.

Set just before the Royal party heads north, cersei wakes up, and starts looping.
