Armchair General's DonbAss Derailed Discussion Thread (Topics Include History, Traps, and the Ongoing Slavic Civil War plus much much more)

There is one thing here that I do want to happen, though:

Capital relocations are IMHO generally a good thing since they help shift the center of gravity in a country.
No way, Russian elites enjoy living in one of their very few first rate cities way too much, Russian nationalists like thinking of their country as European way too much, and the story about fearing surprise NATO blitzkrieg is meant for external, not internal (that would contradict the whole point of all the efforts to raise the Russia Stronk! beliefs) consumption, nevermind actually believing it and acting accordingly.

LeBron James continues his messaging in The Shop. In this episode, he talks on the subject of Griner still being held in a Russian prison, and opines that it's better to be locked in a Russian prison than free in the hell that is The United States.

His words are both powerful and poetic. Brave in how it stirs controversy for stating the manifestly obvious.

I can't wait to watch it. What is it again?

Just how delusional do you have to be to claim that? Russia has more prison deaths than USA, despite much smaller prison population.

Russia also has its fair share of violence outside of its jails, unfortunately :(:

Not those Russian nationalists who relentlessly complain about Western supremacy and support a new China-led world order lol!

Pyongyang still be thinking about Regathering the Korean Lands lol! :D

BTW, take a look at the temporary population boost that Poland got as a result of the Ukrainian War:

Yes, but does it have more prison deaths than the USA has outside of prison deaths?

And even if this is true, aren't USA deaths worse because of racism?

Well who are we supposed to believe is really Oppressed, some guy on a tiny message board who's clearly in a position of Great Privilege or a downtrodden poor person like LeBron James that suffers from no privileges at all?

Conservative rednecks are the most underprivileged group of all lol! :D

In fact, as Russian nationalist blogger Anatoly Karlin does, one can view both Russians and rednecks as being people of color due to them being victims of historical and/or current Western oppressive structures.

I’m not sure if that hashtag Russian Lives Matter is a thing or a parody. And they couldn’t be considered PoC, considering that Russia has a large neo-Nazi population.

Hispanics are considered POC and yet some of them are still Neo-Nazis or at least Neo-Nazi-adjacent:

Considering just how deeply most Ukrainians hate Russia right now, I suspect that most of them will prefer to emigrate if Russia will ever manage to conquer all of Ukraine and if any kind of meaningful resistance (whether an insurgency or a Solidarity-style movement) won't be a realistic option. Right now, 80% of Ukrainians prefer EU membership while only 2% of Ukrainians prefer EEU membership:

Even in eastern Ukraine, the figures are 67% in preference of EU membership and just 9% in preference of EEU membership.

How exactly is Russia supposed to appeal to a country where its people overwhelmingly hate it? Give them a better quality of life? But Ukrainians can already get that by moving to the EU, which is very eager to welcome them with open arms. And Ukrainians strongly prefer the EU to Russia anyway, so ...

Russia's Ukraine policy over the last ten years has been a miserable failure, unfortunately. Had Russia limited itself to quickly taking Crimea and the Donbass and left the rest of Ukraine alone, that would have been much better. Had Russia avoided getting involved in Ukraine at all, then this would have been much better for Russo-Ukrainian relations.
