Hillary Clinton becomes an aide and later chief of staff to US Senator Dick Durbin. This is in a scenario where Bill Clinton dies young after getting married to Hillary and Hillary subsequently moves back to Illinois.

JFK's brother survives the disastrous remote controlled airplain anti-bunker raid and becomes president, or Joseph P. Kennedy's attempts to suck up to the Nazis catch up with JFK's political career.
But JFK can simply say "I am not my father" and distance himself from his father's pro-Nazi activities.

The election already was pretty close, maybe that is enough to swing the vote in Nixon's direction.
Also, that revalation just might prompt more carrion eaters to start circling the Kennedy Corpse, that family had tons of skeletons in their closet, like for example the fact that JFK was suffering from a spinal injury iirc, and had to take a lot of addictive medication, or that Joseph P. Kennedy had his retarded daughter, Rosemary, IIRC, lobotomized and turned into a de facto vegetable.

I said that post-war Japan would get less US support if the USA already has a big(ger) ally in the form of China, and that China would certainly strive to keep Japan in its place.

Well, I think that there would still be a significant desire to help Japan, similar to how the US helping West Germany and Italy in Europe did not prevent the US from also helping Britain and France in the post-WWII years and decades with the Marshall Plan, et cetera.

Id imagine this is dependent on Japan eventually coming to terms with the fact they were monstrous war criminals during the Second World War. Not exactly easy, considering that their were still alot of fairly high up people in Japanese society who had committed war crimes (One of their Prime Ministers,Nobusuke Kishi, can basically be considered the equivalent of a Reich Komissar, given what he was up to in Manchuria)
-Makes peace immediately.
-Tries to pursue a civilized colonial posture wherever realistically possible.
-Immediately joins the Allied side and rapidly builds nukes for use against Nazi Germany.

Also, joke aide, but allegedly the guy had pretty good relations with the various Latin American immigrants that crossed his path.
Oh, and he was also known as a "gringo with iron/big quahones" (sp) on account of him staying tough during a visit to Latin America, while protesters were throwing eggs at him, while the host country's actual national anthem was playing.
Afterwards he said something along the lines of: "Well, if they won't stand for their national anthem, then I will."

The most "dependent" thing in this scenario is Japan -- dependent on China's good will! because with the USA as a firm ally and Japan un-important the USA, China can basically go berserk on Japan if they even twitch in a suspicious manner....

All this talk of JFK and Nixon has given me another interesting idea.
Why don't they team up?
JFK iirc went to Harvard, Nixon was admitted to Harvard, but because his family was nearly bankrupt doe to his brother's medical bills he did not attend.
The Nixon angle can be played separately, of course, but in either case he will be far less bitter towards the rich Ivy League East Coast Establishment.

Well I imagine they cant invade Japn, but Trade War would certainly be an option. There is the possibility they just do trade war any way because of Spite. Which leaves Japan in a ditch.
