TLDR : Lula's Brazil is preparing to welcome Guyanan refugees because according to the drunkard pest ruling Brasilia its is already a certainty there would be a war between Maduro's clique and Guyana.

This could have been avoided with Bolsonaro but I guess "mean words and shooting criminals" was too much for the Pan-american, Brazilian and European left.

This shit could only happen in Brazil.

No one in the Left liked him - Dino, like Haddad, has plenty of enemies; unlike Haddad, his political career was outside PT(he always ran for office as a PCB member), which makes him even more disliked inside PT than his loathsome personality alone would accomplish. The feminist lobby(which includes Lula's moll) wanted a woman, as the new STF member would be replacing Rosa Weber. Lula's supposed candidate was someone else.

So, who the fuck pushed for his candidacy?

Valdemar da Costa Neto(Leader of PL, the party Bolsonaro is affiliated to) - he wanted another guy on STF who would work to undo the convictions related to Operação Lava-Jato. PL is one of the most powerful parties in Brazil nowadays, and in spite of harbouring many which are connected to the former government, AND some of Valdemar's declarations, is more concerned with using its power to extort the government out of its budget(PL is the party that has been granted the highest number of gibs in the current Administration) that with being any sort of opposition.

Nowhere else this is made any clearer than Dino's confirmation; the average Bolsonaro supporter(as many others) holds as much affection for Dino as they do for roaches, and movements allied with Bolsonaro tried to organize a protest against his indication for the STF(which failed to garner much support). Meanwhile(and known to the protest organizers), the Congress members linked to Bolsonaro were following Valdemar's orders and working to confirm Dino. And now one of Bolsonaro's sons is posting on social media as if his allies had nothing to do with Dino's confirmation.

Make no mistake, Dino wouldn't have been confirmed without the support of the so called 'opposition'. This shit only shows that the so called 'Right' is even more ridiculous as a parliamentary opposition as PSDB was back in the 2000s.

Yeah. Maybe I am not blackpilled as @gral but this feels like it will accelerate Brazil towards a return to old in a way or another if it continues like this. Meaning someone like Vargas (which depeding who you ask he was a conservative or fascist or leftist populist nationalist dictator) , because I don't see Brazil going "integralist" or "monarchist" in the yet near future.
I am just glad that after Lula dies nobody will be able to capture his "magic" and it will likely lead to the Brazilian left downfall.

Yeah. Maybe I am not blackpilled as @gral but this feels like it will accelerate Brazil towards a return to old in a way or another if it continues like this. What ever comes after the current iteration of the Republic will have most of its powers vested on the Executive Branch - the current state of things is a cautionary tale against having too much power in the Legislative and Judicial ones. So, yes, it will have shades of Vargas' Estado Novo. This isn't a good thing, as the ideal system for Brazil would be, IMO, federalism(not the pretend one we have). But it's what we'll probably get. I don't dare to guess what flavour of totalitarianism we'll get, because I suspect it won't be that similar to what we've had before.

I'm 38 years old & likely will be seeing Brazil slowly trending back more right-wing & hardcore conservative once Lula FINALLY kicks the bucket!

Odds aren't good Lula will make it to serving out 4th full term IF he wins reelection in 2026.

Yeahhh I won't celebrate Carneval there and if memory serves right I won't expect to be different than other Brazilian's Carnevals under a Lula government.

Half of Brazil that voted for Lula will complain about safety and trash but won't see the root cause why!
