Rio Grande do Sul is fucked - State Debt was already too high; after being hit by the worst flooding in recorded history(previous record high of the Guaíba River was in 1941, with the level of the river reaching some 4.75 metres - the 2024 flood topped that by some 33 cm), it's quite likely that the State becomes as dependent on federal largesse as the Northeastern States.

Far as I know Lula is refusing to send any kind of help to the state as a form of punishment because barely anyone voted for him there.

Not quite - he's not sending money because the budget has been squeezed dry by the extortion rack Congress has turned Brazil into. But have no fear: Congress seems to be moving to approve a spending spree pretty soon. Pay no attention to the fact that most of it will be destined to electoral campaigns(we'll have elections for Mayor and Aldermen throughout Brazil this October).

The list of passengers and crew confirmed there were 61 onboard. No survivors. No one on the ground wounded or killed, a minor miracle considering the aircraft fell on a backyard(the owners of the house lost their car, though). No apparent cause for the accident yet, but there were reports of icing conditions in the region being quite strong yesterday.

Icing conditions in the region ? How bad was it ?
 
Again, if the US is an empire, we should actually act like an empire. Simple solution: new law that if a US based company is fined by a foreign country for having/hosting free speech in the US, that country is liable to pay the company back. Then have the US seize assets until the company is made whole.
