Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

I wouldn't say Simple.
The TB2 is to small for long range SAMs. So they were probably trying thier hardest to find it.
Distracted the Neptune launched
And since Turkey closed the straights, it means that Russia cannot move any of it's non-Black Fleet assets into the area anymore.

Clearing the Black Sea of Russian ships would make retaking the east of Ukraine much easier. The LPR/DRP may become independent, but I think Kyiv can get Crimea back if the bleed the Russia military and remove their assets from the Black Sea. It also puts the oil deposits there back under Kyiv's control.

For instance, Russia doesn't seem to be risking it's Air Force for CAS missions as much anymore, instead relying on artillery fire and tanks.

I wasn't 'for' the war before, however since we have a war now, well...make it rain Javelin's and StarStreak's.

Edit: Also any issues I had with military spending are pretty much moot; at least it keep some parts of the US tech sector gainfully employed at the great American tradition of making very power and fast ways of wrecking someone's shit.

Russia successfully made me see them as something we may need to actually fight in the mid-term future, instead of as a 'based' bastion of 'sanity in a woke world'. Frankly the Wokies I know how to defuse and turn if given time and a personal connection. I cannot make Vatniks accept reality though, so instead I'll just help make sure Russia is held to account for it's crimes.

If that means we feed the US military industrial complex and refire the engines of war because the world got stupid and the Bear has become rabid and the Dragon is looking shifty...fuck it, at least it's something we know how to do.

As they say, History does not so much repeat, but oft rhymes. Some people tend to forget that...

Hell, I remember when one of the last batches of U.S. M1 tanks was leaving Europe, people were wondering "Wonder if they'll come back?" Now, a few decades later...

🇷🇺🇺🇦Briefing by Russian Defence Ministry

▫️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.

❗️A commercial seaport in Mariupol city has been completely liberated from Nazi Azov fighters.

▫️All hostages held by the Nazis on the ships in the port, including foreigners, have been released.

▫️The remnants of the Ukrainian and Azov Nazi units in the city have been blockaded and deprived of the opportunity to break out of their encirclement.

💥During the day, high-precision weapons destroyed 36 enemy assets. Among them: 2 repair bases and 2 missile-artillery weapon depots of the 57th and 24th mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Troops in Vrubovka and Berestovoe; 5 strong points of units of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade in Popasnaya and Barvenkovo; 1 command post of the 15th Separate Regiment of the Ukrainian National Guard in Cherkasskoe.

💥The HQ and fuel storage facility of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade near Gulyai Pole have also been destroyed.

✈️💥Operational-tactical and army aviation hit 10 military assets of Ukraine. Among them: 1 command post, 3 missile and artillery weapons depots, and 6 areas of concentration of Ukrainian weapons and military equipment.

📊In total, 130 aircraft and 103 helicopters, 244 anti-aircraft missile systems S-300, Buk-M1, Osa AKM, 447 unmanned aerial vehicles, 2,173 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 243 multiple launch rocket systems, 937 field artillery and mortars, as well as 2,082 units of special military vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed during the operation.

▫️We see attempts of sabotage and strikes by Ukrainian forces against facilities on Russian Federation territory.

❗️If such cases continue, the Russian Armed Forces will strike at decision-making centres, including in Kiev, from which the Russian army has so far refrained.

If Russia was forced to choose between losing its pet rebels and annexed Crimea, I wouldn't think Russia would choose to lose the latter, and I would think it's more defensible. Also, I had the impression that the Crimea issue was a strong point in Russian public opinion, so it would slightly surprise me if it didn't (relatively speaking) help home front morale to be defending it. Why do you suspect Russia may end up giving up Crimea but not LPR/DRP?

130 planes and 100 helicopters lost? Ukraine have less when war started, and never get new ones.
But - it is nothing new.In 1939 during first day of Chałchyn goł battle brave sralin pilots schoot down 31 japaneese Ki 27 fighters.Problem is - Japan have there 16,and lost 5.Some to AA.

Maybe. It always seemed harder to sink in the Combat Simulators with its SIXTY FOUR S-300F GRUMBLE MISSILES! And the short range SAM's.... and the CIWS... and... and... and... the Crew was always set to the highest difficulty setting to be make more fair... Oh... yes I see now.
In fact the answer is even simpler, Moscow has never undergone modernization and continues to have defenses against missiles from before the war for this island near Argentina.

It can target a maximum of 6 targets while shooting down only three of them. In comparison, today's frigates can do it with hundreds of targets.

It has undergone only one overhaul, and that in Ukraine in the 90s! And here there is another problem, namely that the Russians did not pay the Ukrainians in full for the renovation, so they removed some of the cruiser's systems to make the costs match the payment.

In other words, apart from the hopeless crew, this ship is defective even in comparison with its version from the time when it was put into service.

And it should be added that the cruisers of the Slava class, have a solid and powerful design flaw connected with the positioning of the missile launcher. Namely Soviets have built a powerful compartment more or less at the back of this ship for these missiles, but because of the lack of technical abilities, in contrast to western missile launchers which after a hit throw all their explosive energy upwards, the Soviet ones disperse this energy to the ship itself.

Add two plus two and you will come out with the result of why the Russian cruiser was promoted to a single submersible submarine. ;)

US sending $800 million in military aid to Ukraine.

Presidents of Latvia, Estonia, Finland & Poland recently met with Ukrainian President Zolodymyr Zelensky.

There were Ukrainian Transport Aircraft spotted in Japan earlier and apparently its because Japan is allegedly loading them with goodies.

Kinda curious as to the Anti-Tank Weapons Japan actually would supply Ukraine with if this is reportedly true. Also SDF Aircraft will also be used for delivering humanitarian support as well, which is something the Japanese military hasn't done since the Iraq War.

ORDLO Conscripts (that is Conscripts from the Independent Seperatist Regions of the Donbass) are moving into join their comrades in fighting the Ukrainian Nazis in Mariupol, which as reported in this thread, has basically been secured weeks ago!

Have fun guys! Don't worry, Chechens will be celebrating the impending victory in your homes, drinking your wine and fucking your wives and daughters and making TikTok videos or whatever the phrasing is.

Ukrainians reportedly blew up a bridge while a Russian Military Convoy was crossing it en route to Izyum.

Previously unreported, the Czech Republic is apparently sending their BM-21 MLRS equivalents, the RM-70, to Ukraine as well in addition to the previously mentioned tanks, APC's and self propelled artillery.

So as of about 3 hours ago, there are conflicting reports of what the status of the Moskva.

Lithuania is claiming it's sunk, while the US is saying it's still afloat but clearly damaged, and I've heard rumors it has either partially or fully capsized. It is possible it has capsized but nut fully submerged, and is floating due to air trapped in the hull.

It's really hard to sink a big warship right away... so it's clearly possible that it's still afloat but still basically a loss.

Hopefully our friends in the sky can shed some light on it.

Though I doubt they'll share pics...

Looks like the Biden Administration is only offering $750 million instead of $800 million in the latest aid package now. They won't be giving Ukraine those eleven or so Mi-17 Helicopters.

Biden must be afraid those helicopters are a nuclear redline with Putin or something. Terrified of what Ukraine could do offensively with seventeen Cold War era utility helicopters after seeing what they did with two Attack Helicopters.

The Moskva is officially dead. I will say this again just in case anybody is wondering if I am on narcotics. But the Moskva is officially dead. He died from a storm while also being on fire apparently.

(I did this from my mobile. So the quoting of the TASS article will be rough)
The Ministry of Defense reported that the cruiser "Moscow" sank during towing

MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. The missile cruiser "Moscow" sank when towed to its destination in a storm due to damage to the hull received from a fire from the detonation of ammunition. This was reported on Thursday by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Well at least it sunk under its own power. Also the fire was likely put out I'm assuming?

Rest in Peace...

Ukrainian transport flight heading out from Turkey, likely with more goodies on board.

Belarussian volunteers having an unboxing video with MANPADs and anti-armor weapons.

Short thread showing the civilians engaging in cleanup efforts in the Kyiv Oblast after the Russian Liberators orderly withdrew.

Russian vessels are reportedly moving away from the Ukrainian coastline, not to mitigate the threat of Ukrainian missiles or fires of course, but to mitigate accidents and sabotage which is known to be far less likely to happen when your more then eighty miles from a coastline as opposed to merely under eighty miles from a coastline.

Another video of a Ukrainian BTR engaging heavier Russian armor, this time somewhere in the Donetsk Oblast reportedly.
