The War in Afghanistan

Okay.
HOW DO YOU THINK WE SHOUKD HAVE FIXED IT?
All I head is "You had 20 years!"
Okay, what more could we have done? The command of the ANA were complete idiots. Replace them with someone else? Less experience? Probably worse off?
Put an American? Whi would listen to him? How would he know ow how the people of A-stan work? The tribe dynamic would have to be pushed out if the people.

What, all would you say we could have done?

And guess who controlled the pay of the ANA and thus could force through reforms? If no reforms were available, then quite frankly your institutions should've used their alleged intelligence to suggest we not wait to the last second to pull out; go ask the dead of Kabul Airport how's that fucking working out right now. Back in June the IC was saying GIRoA had six months to two years, then they were saying three months, then a month and then suddenly a week as the Taliban were rolling into Kabul.

You were consistently wrong-as an institution-throughout this entire war but especially this year. Own this defeat and disaster because it is your fault and if the only response you can mutter is "well what would you do???" to someone whose job it is not to come up with these responses while yours is, yeah, that just confirms everything I've said and believe. The IC needs to be disbanded and more than few of you thrown into prison for this fuck up and the tens of thousands of lives you've cost both us and the Afghans.

God above, "fortification" wise they better be building the Theodosian fucking walls or else they're totally stuffed in 2022.

If we're being honest, ain't nobody gonna give a fuck about this by 2022. Saigon actually helped Ford's approval ratings and the domestic support for withdrawal was extremely high. The fuck up at the Hamid Karzai airport may generate some backlash on its own, but "Who Lost China" this is not.

Dept. of State Livestream; Corn Pop is late for his speech by nearly 10 minutes now.

That like to dislike ratio.

They're deleting the dislikes.

A lot of you are wanting to blame this all on Biden; don't, that's exactly what the powers that be want, for this to become a partisan issue so that the interventionist streak of themselves is never effectively challenged. Both Republicans and Democrats bare responsibility for this and should be held to account, including the Orange Buffoon and his court that is currently trying to claim the Doha Deal was conditions based as the GOP scrubs their support for withdraw from their website. Bush II, Obama, Trump and Biden are all to blame and so are their backers/supporters.

Also, obligatory fuck Bill Kristol.

As if the average, semi-literate Afghan citizen both understood and cared for such high minded ideals and what they entail.

They do care for the results, though. And if the US cared less about all the stuff I listed, and more about the results - results for the Afghanistan, not the US - then maybe they could have secured both. A big maybe, admittedly, but fact is that the large reason of why US failed in the Afghanistan is that they are too inwardly-focused: they tried creating a "modern" state of the Western model in a country where something like that could never have worked. And why? Everything I have listed.

Hmmm...nope, I'm blaming Biden.

If this happened under Trump, I'd blame him. But it didn't. It happened under Biden.

And for the record, I have supported withdrawal since fucking Bush was still president. But I support a not completely botched withdrawal, where we get our citizens out before leaving the damn country and needing to rush 6000 troops back in.

No, this is Biden's fault.

The people jumping on planes and falling hundreds of feet? Biden's fault. The people trapped and unable to leave? Biden's fault.
