China Wuhan Virus Pandemic

The Chinese are willing to countenance the sort of measures, western democracies can not do. So I can believe total lockdown of cities and basically shutting down the economy was enough to suppress the virus.

I just don't believe the Chinese have stopped this. It seems entirely unlikely.
They have all the problems of Italy, but worse. Best case scenario, this will be the end of China.

Worst case I guess it's still the end of china, but we don't enjoy it as much.

They're also willing to ignore a problem in the clasic "you didn't see any graphite" communist tradition. By the time their panic set in, many millions could have been infected.

They are probably lying, but even assuming that they are honest; they are actually able to enforce a quarantine.

China was literally welding people into their apartments.

Imagine the outcry in the US if the US military had been sent to Washington state upon the first case being detected, droned any car that was attempting to leave, enforced full blown martial law, ripped parents from their children upon either party testing positive and locking the infected up.

We would end up with more people dead from the societal unrest caused by attempting to enforce those kinds of draconian measures than the virus would kill.

If they had listen to the warnings their own doctor gave in December, they could have limited this to Wuhan and it's surroundings and given the rest of the world a heads up to check/screen passengers/travelers.

It would have been much less of a hassle and burden on the world's healthcare systems had they done that.

But like the Soviets and Chernobyl, they cared more about losing face than protecting people.

It's just a flu, guys! It's nothing! It's a nothingburger! The meat between the bread is invisible!

Ahem. As I said on 4chan, back on the 1st, humorously getting trips in the process:

You know, every time I just have a “burger steak” it feels like so much is missing

Specificially melted cheese, ketchup, barbecue sauce, cucumbers etc

Ha, he made the same reference I did, and he doesn't even know.

To be fair it is very, very difficult to tell when you are just "joking".
For some.

Eh, I dunno. Sometimes, with a little salt and pepper, they can be pretty good that way, even without the rest of the stuff, especially if they're nice and juicy.

Have you ever had Johnny's? It's kind of a Pacific Northwest thing. While doing my pandemic prepping, I made sure to buy a few bottles of it. You can get it off Amazon, though. I highly recommend it.

It's mostly salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and soy sauce powder. You can make a close approximation of it yourself if you have those things, of course, but Johnny's is very convenient and pre-mixed at the right ratio. It makes a very boring burger more palatable instantly. All the local gastropubs with a hint of sense have a bottle of Johnny's on their tables.

Nope, most of my burger steaks are from fancy restaurants or just burger patties at home that were reheated and my family’s usually around and they keep on insisting that it and regular steak do NOT need condiments

Burgers must have cheese, and should be cooked medium rare at the most. Lettuce is taste-meaningless, but acceptable for texture. Onions are acceptable fried and grilled, but not white. A small amount of mustard and ketchup are acceptable. A small amount of Mayo is acceptable only as part of a mixed seasoning. Fried eggs are acceptable. Pickles are acceptable. Bacon is borderline.

Buns or bread must be toasted and slightly buttered.

Tomatoes are banned.

This is the law of God and of man.
