It's intended to used as a vaccine, not a cure, because of issues like that. It'll work, but cause a lot of damage as it kills off every cell that gets infected in its eight day effective lifespan, which means sizable inflammation of vital tissues. I imagine the immune system cleans up the bloodstream in the meantime; they did wait to see if re-infection occurred, and it didn't.
What's supposed to happen is that it's taken when there's a serious infection risk and it kills off the initial infection, before there's any chance to replicate. Safe passage of contaminated areas (say, a week's vacation in China right now) and shutting down outbreaks by using it to immediately get herd immunity going.

The virus isn't what will hurt china, the locus dispite being a problem isn't a game ender for china because its a large country and can grow food else where, its the fact that their the most over leveraged country in human history.

Dude, can you accept some good news without trying to find a complaint?
This may be what saves so many lives. It's not super-complicated, it's known to work in other serious cases, and it's something you can do for those already exposed.

Some of us would rather be hopeful for the lives it will save. This treatment is the best shot they have at saving a massive amount of people.
