As someone who actually works in a hospital, I’ll weigh in with my two cents here in regards to the bleach spraying, if indeed that’s what the Chinese are spraying.
Its another Party PR stunt, sadly. Sure, it seems like they’re trying to do something, but that’s the whole point. To effectively disinfect with bleach, you need to apply it directly with a medium such as a wipe to all surfaces and wipe/scrub thoroughly including all nooks and crannies. If this virus can survive on typical surfaces for up to three weeks or longer as they’re claiming, just spraying it into the air doesn’t do crap. In fact, they’re potentially making it worse.
The air quality in China is horrible with all the pollution, which leads to a large segment of the populace having reduced autoimmune systems. Spraying bleach into the air is worse as it is highly corrosive if it gets into the lungs and internal organs if you breathe it, that’s why in hospitals whenever they use bleach they always (or at least typically) use a medium like hand wipes. That said, Bleach wipes in fact are a good thing to have on hand if you’re planning to take precautions and stock up on any essentials. Just remember to wear protective gloves when you use them, or any other material you’re using to disinfect a surface as common practice.
EDIT: It also helps to stock up on isopropyl alcohol, and alcohol wipes if you can get them. Just remember if you’re using pure bleach as opposed to bleach wipes, to dilute it with water as per instructions and always make sure you have adequate ventilation. Regardless what you use, also keep an adequate supply of disposable prepackaged sterile gloves, latex preferred unless you have an allergy to latex.
