Hail to the king baby
The fact that people in china are packed in like sardines isn't helping.
Based on the information I have, I think 2019-nCov has infected 500,000 to 1,000,000 people and has probably killed at least 50,000 to 100,000. That’s not an exaggeration.
This is China’s Chernobyl. This is the end of the fucking world and the economy as we know it. Expect 5 to 10 years of tech shortages and massive economic depression, if any of us fucking survive.
- According to someone working at Huoshenshan Hospital who leaked the true casualty figures, the CCP’s “910 dead” figure only counts cases of sudden death. There are 200 to 400ish a day who end up hauled off after expiring from pneumonia, their beds quickly refilled. That’s just one quarantine site.
- 26% of the infected who develop pneumonia need oxygen support or an ECMO in the damn ICU. When you run out of ICU beds, guess what? Death.
- There is a possibility the illness causes cytokine storms like Spanish Flu, where your own immune system overwhelms and kills you.
- People have been noting elevated SO2 levels around Wuhan that are like 10x normal. They’re burning bodies over there, to the tune of thousands a day, and not telling us.
Oh, and if you say any of this on SB? They’ll silence you instantly, because, y’know, how dare we doubt the CCP’s numbers? It’s nothing. It’s a nothingburger. Quarantining tens of millions of people, blocking roads, paralyzing your manufacturing and shipping, welding people up inside their apartments, and dragging people from their homes and to quarantine sites where there is human-to-human transmission is a normal way to respond to a little seasonal flu.
Fuck me.
Well, now we'll see if posting this info on FB with links to windy.com gets me suspended or the page wiped.
The CCP will have to face the music for this sooner or later. The more pressure people put on them, the more they cannot silence the leakers (now seeming to be the actual doctors in many cases) and the spread of the info from non-CCP/WHO controlled outlets, the sooner the CCP will have to admit how bad things really are.
It came very fucking close in those first few days.
If the divers hadn't been able to drain the tanks, or Legasov hadn't discovered the bubbler tanks were full in the first place, it could have made most of Eastern Europe uninhabitable for centuries.
I think that might be low balling it a bit, mostly because of how far the winds could have carried the additional contaminated material and what it could have done to water/food supplies long term. While that is an exaggeration, it would have caused the indefinite evacuation of 10 - 15 million citizens of the Soviet Ukraine and possibly radically altered the timing and dynamics of the breakup of the Soviet Union (if the city of Kiev has literally been relocated with millions of refugees into central Asia)....

Thankfully we never had to find out.
Though right now I wish dealing with this bug was mostly a physics and heat issue like Chernobyl, because those are a lot simpler to handle than biology and virology.
Yeah, but the problem is that theory accounts for neither geology, geography, or weather patterns. They necessitated some level of extra-regional/international trade since the people decided to settle in one location instead of doing the hunter-gatherer life, and that is a fact that no amount of philosophy can change. The problem is that globalisation means governments no longer care about their own citizens... If we had just shut down all international trade and air travel on January 21st, there would be no problem at all... But even the Red Chinese are re-starting internal industry because making a profit is much more important to them than lives... A nation must be an island, and must be prepared to always make decisions in the interests of its citizens, at the expense of the world.... ironically, if this were still the case and aggressive quarantines had begun promptly without care for the profits of the globalist elites, the entire world would be better off.
Like an episode from a comedy.
The kind that hasn't truly experienced the horrors of a late qurantine obviously. What sort of quarantine just let's people walk out? What the hell.

Yes, it would stop something like this faster, but it also a completely unrealistic ideal to have or strive for.
Take both.Im not sure if the virus is hard to contain or the people responsible for the quarantine are just absolute Dumbasses.

The hugely lowballed and possibly fabricated Chinese numbers look like a straight ascending line for rate of new infected.
41% of the patients needed ventilators.
I’m currently trying to get referred to a shrink because I have had panic episodes over this.
Our ancestors didn't have Global Travel that could move you around the planet in hours. That is the difference.Over a disease which even if the leaked numbers (50,000/1.5 million) are right kills only 3.3% of those infected? Over a disease currently preferentially targeting the elderly and unwell, just like the Influenza? This is exactly why hysteria is a bad thing and shouldn't be promoted. Most of our ancestors lived perfectly well in a world with far more dangerous diseases.
