The idea is probably that he's removing a big part of the reason they'd come after him by resigning. He's probably hoping they'll just take it as a win and move on to the next target.

If that were the case, he'd have stayed in office. He's too much of a prima donna to leave if he thought it was safe.
It's more likely he's been told to leave to take the heat off the Dems, and take some 'stain' out of the Biden Admin.
The first is possible, but the Dem's want all the stain to stick to Biden they can...either that or have it stick to the incoming admin.
Just listening to this guy - sheesh. They ask a simple question and he replies with a big ink-cloud of CYA.
These people seem to live in a world were everything is a collective decision which no one in particular is ever responsible for.
We need to remember it was Trump who pushed the vax's on an accelerated timeline for political points, and Trump has never seemed to be willing to address/admit 'his' vax's are effectively worse than useless.
This is part of why I'd prefer DeSantis; he never tried to push the vax's for political points like Trump did/does.

The climate has changed numerous times in human history, we could deal with it by adapting.
There are technologies like desalnation plants that will help and sea walls, if its really bad we can think about putting money into a solar shade to help deal with it. Humans have lived in much hotter global temps then now we can adapt but its best that we don't do it like idiots.
One thing that would really help? Nuclear lots and lots of nuclear France runs 80% of their grid off of it it clearly works.
