To be fair there's also the issue of the testing equipment. There's cases of it's reliability to be faulty.

If it's Chinese-made, you're better off flipping a coin and predicting heads or tails.

I've been saying for years Chinese-made exports are shit, but no -- I'm a "sinophobe" for pointing out that "Made in China" products are shit and have the shelf-life of dairy on a hot pavement.

They're saying the UK measures may be extended for six months -- it won't happen, not unless they use the military to enforce them.

People won't stand for it for months on months. Hell, just one month is a lot of people's breaking-point.

Even if more people sicken or even die, people on the whole will go "fuck it" and try to resume normal life, despite possible consequences.

Yeah, the more info that comes out (if this is true), the more I'm believing this was engineered. Regardless of it being a purposeful bio-weapon, the results have been the same.

To get back on topic: Not sure if you all know but Brazil has sadly gone with the "Just a Flu" strat. Bolsonaro asked people to go back to work and to go for "vertical isolation" instead of the regular quarantines the state governors were doing so far. The aim is to be back to normal by April 6th. Needless to say with over 2k infected and over 100 dead so far the curve for this thing is not going to be pretty, and our Healthcare is absolutely not up to handle it.

AFAIK, the Health Minister said they expected the quarantines to gradually end from April 7th on.

As for the strategy being wrong, I'd agree with you with that, except that our economy is even more fucked up than our health service. The choice whether to tank COVID-19 or not won't be taken by the President or by the State Governors, it'll be taken by the poor people who would rather risk it than not have the money to buy food. It's already happening in a few places. For now, the police will be able to get people back to their homes, or arrest people who open their establishments or keep on working(like it has already happened in Aracaju and Belém). After April 7th? I doubt it.

Even if I'd theoretically agree on a full-scale lockdown on health grounds, I don't think it's feasible for Brazil to enact it, and we are already beginning to see why.

To be accurate, it's mostly Chinese citizens who bought the real estate, not the Chinese government. I'm not sure if it's right to punish citizens for the actions of their government, so if we're going to do this, we should focus out attention on the latter.
