Funimation ditching Interspecies Review after a few episodes is a riot. They didn't notice the sexual content even when they had to go through the whole content to produce the dubs.

What makes it even worse is when you go back through their catalogue and see that they've done previously, only to start caring more recently.

I'm not saying it's an issue if a guy finds a woman attractive, I'm saying Red Sonja's traditional chain-mail bikini is ridiculous, and that some guys will undoubtedly like the character not for her history, whatever stories she's been in, or any of that, but because "OMG chain mail bikini redhead is hawt!".

My reaction to that is, "so what?" But the thing about Red Sonja is that whenever someone brings her up to complain about her outfit is that I just can't help but think about Conan and how much skin he also shows off. Naturally, when this gets pointed out to the woke crowd, they either ignore it, or simply label characters like Conan and Heman dressed in next to nothing as "male power fantasy," because men with body image issues don't exist in their world view, and it's totally not sexist at all to say it's okay to sexualize men because all men like to be sexualized. Which is why you see the same people complaining about female celebrities having nude pictures of them taken at nude beaches by the paparazzi turn around and drool at men having the same done to them, like they did to Orlando Bloom.

I'm certainly not going to tell them they can't, but you can't have that attitude and then talk about "oh, I like strong women characters too!"

Why not? What's wrong with liking a character who kicks ass and also admiring her good looks? How is that so impossible in your view?

You know, I really can't imagine considering something like Ghost in the Shell or Ergo Proxy in the same genre as Naruto of Monster Musume and dismissing it all as trash because it's animated.

Yeah, because it was bad. But it can be done well, which is the point I'm making. They could at least give us good propaganda.

I really don't think they can. I was just watching a video by Razorfist earlier today, and he talked about a commie writer from the 1950s that's still demonized by other commies for basically saying that they should be more subtle in their writing if they want to get their viewpoint across better.

It's something to do with "realism" and stuff about reflecting character and symbolism

Except that the ones really pushing it don't go for subtle and will rail against what you consider to be "good, woke propaganda." Which, I have to admit I share a bit of the straw-manning bully's view in that I really don't want the woke crowd to have "good" propaganda anyway.

I'm asking specifically how it's not possible according to Big Steve or anyone else who shares the view to like and admire a character for their character traits while also admiring them physically. I see no reason why that shouldn't be possible, and in fact know quite a few women who love the idea of a woman who kicks ass and looks sexy while doing so, in part because they aren't looking for realism when it comes to characters like that.

Yeah, you definitely can and odds are most people don't give a fuck about realism, but those complaining are a sort of rare breed or guys just trying to look better than you

I would have look for the actual report but I am sure it was linked in the gamergate thread on SB.

But mainly most of the threats people being assholes and seems simalr to things that other internet celebrities like Milo got at the time. You could make a case for harrestment since there where groups that you make a game of getting Sarkeesian pissed. But overall actual credible death threats where not a thing.

So famous person faces harassment doesn't fill out headlines like angry internet mob makes death threats against femmists.

As for the videos. She promised a lot never made them, changed topics or made horrible ones. She basically milked her supporter for money and never even really delivered to promised product.

But she never played the games and stole footage of let's play like with her games encouraging violence peice and the Hitman scene. Which funnily enough showed the play being penalized for being violent instead on encouraged.

But really a true academic look at the topics she listed should have taken a team of people working full time for a year if you give them a month to make year video. Instead Sarkeesian stole others work and put in less work then hot take Youtubers do. But I guess speaking tours are more important then making a quality video or keeping promises to your supporters.

In-Regards to videogame industry, I think Persona 5 was had the author expressing part of his dislike for Shinzo Abe and making the Main Antagonist an expy of him
