"Woke" Franchises

I'd argue we have more emotional men than is common in the recent past thanks to the demonization of stoicism and traditional masculinity by feminism for the last 40+ years.
True,at least in Poland.
And elections plaing on emotions do not help, too.

Apparently the previous Purge movies were too subtle in this social messaging of THE PURGE IS ABOUT KILLING POOR PEOPLE LIKE BLACKS AND MIGRANTS so the SIXTH Purge film will have actual segregated states.

"So for me for 6, I was extrapolating on the discord and taking it to its furthest, as far as you can take that idea of what's going on, I feel, in the country and the political landscape. And it's a broken America. We're remapping. ['The Purge 6'] is about the remapping of America based on ideology, sexuality and religion, so that the states are broken down. You have your Black state, you have your gay state, you have your white evangelical state. And it's really a broken country," DeMonaco said during an interview with Collider.

However, he didn't stop there. The man responsible for creating the "Purge" series then decided to take a shot at Marjorie Taylor Greene. "What's so strange is that Marjorie Taylor Greene — I'm not gonna say more than her name there — recently wished for an America like that, which to me would be the most nightmarish version. It goes against everything that America stands for," DeMonaco added.

lol "Gay State." Sounds like a fabulous idea. Maybe during the Pride Month literal KIDnapping is legalized so they swarm out of their State to abduct children of other States in order to transition them into Queerness or something?

Anyways... high quality film idea. Did anyone ever see the Purge movies after the first? I think I only saw the first... maybe the second one.

I didn't watch any of them, nor the Hunger Games movies.

I was in school during the period when eating disorders were the hip illness to have so I got pretty sick to death of Bulimia and Anorexia, I'm definitely not watching movies about them.

Well I'm not going to lie, The Purge movies aren't very tasteful.

From what I’ve heard, that’s putting it mildly

Well I made the comment partially in jest but I think I've seen the first three Purge movies. The first one was a solid and good horror/thriller and I liked the whole concept and setup and I think the franchises and concepts popularity helped cement that it was a good film idea. Neat twist on the home invasion plot setting with a dash of dystopia thrown in.

But the next two tried to go in deeper into the sociological commentary and world building and while I don't recall the movies being that bad, it was already feeling kinda formulaic and derivative and I pretty much lost interest in the novelty of the idea and concept after that.

And from what I've seen and heard of the subsequent movies, the quality decline seemed to continue, more in storytelling then anything else.

From what I heard, the last one before this one had some sort of jab at Trump’s ‘make America great again’ campaign slogan.

I never saw any of them since the premise was utterly stupid to the extent that if anyone seriously proposed it IRL they'd be forced to resign within the week.

Just like @Knowledgeispower, I never saw a single one on purpose.

James DeMonaco (the main director and writer of the franchise) seems to have been incapable of directing and / or writing a decently watchable film besides some of the sequels of the first Purge movie. I still like the first but it's one of the few guilty pleasures of mine.

Reference to what I said down here , if you check each average for the movie it confirms my line of thought ⬇️
