"Woke" Franchises

Not really I monitor everything they do on the net. He's just smart enough to read subtext. Now he's a smart kid but still the fact he knew what was going in nearly immideatley. Leads me to believe kids know more then most folks think.

You think kids are as easily indoctrinatable as the SJW's and Anti-Anti-SJW's hope?

yes and no. It's real easy to get kids to say what you want, but when they hit the teens, counter culture kicks in and they rediscover the morality wheel.

If it didn't, we would all still be WASPs. One generation embraces a fad hard, the next rejects it.

Reminds me of some lines from Travis J Corcoran’s Aristillus

The guy who founded the city laments and thinks that perhaps there’s a cycle

One moment the College Kids are Authoritarian, the next part of the cycle they’re Anti-Authoritarian

Though by the looks of it, they managed to mix up the two by going on saying they’re Anti-Authoritarian whilst being VERY Authoritarian and receiving government and Private Corporation support

That's kinda how peaks work, whether your conservative or liberal or anything under the sun, when you start to think that the world would be better like how you want it to be and needs to change right now your only solution is more and more authoritarian measures.

Authoritarian is a measure of actions, not the morals influencing the action.

Steven Universe is social justice propaganda aimed at children. It should not be encouraged.

Hrm? Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of finally buying the PS4 game. :p

I'll probably finish purchasing the soundtrack to the movie next month.

I mean, he's lying, and I'll explain why at length when I'm back at my computer.

Oh, I'm sure this is going to be entertaining.

I would have no issue or very little issue with Woke franchises if creators created their own franchises that are designed to be woke instead o invading other franchises and turning them Woke.

“They were Always about Social Justice” is a justification though and that results in things like the women from Mortal Kombat getting burqas or something

It maybe because Leftist-Politics get updates

Before they’re supposed to be against sex & violence’s censorship and don’t care about women with revealed skin unlike the moral busybodies that the Right is supposed to have

So they’re sorta on a “rebellion” only they decide to update said “rebellion” when they realise or hear that women get body image issues and turn back on that former “rebellion” of open sexualisation and see it as a sort of insult and demeaning or dumb high standard

Obviously that means the possibly Left Wing and okay with this sex and violence(particularly the sex or fanservice) audience they had are now Right Wing

And these “Right Wing” Dicks LOVE Sex&Violence in fiction

Honestly I don't know if its really a matter of being "woke" as much as I think modern woke schools have no idea how to be subtle, creative, or just plain good, with the themes and topics they want to tackle.

Look at Zootopia, a popular movie whose plot revolved around racism, it had a good story and a good moral message. And no one really calls it woke. Its liberal, but nothing in it gets it much criticism. Especially with how libertarian the message really is. With both sides of a social divide having valid points and yet flaws that are invisible to themselves.

Now look at the new Batwoman show trailers, they have a song going "I'm a woman!" in the background while she literally steals the Bat suit, and then gets upset at the idea of been confused with Batman.

Of course that may even be the point, a flagrant middle finger to an invisible enemy to get points with an in-crowd and then get to call detractors of said middle finger that enemy they imagined in the first place.

No clue I can't stand the show so I don't watch it. I just know he came and told me it was about trans people. He was watching on cartoon Network.
Are you sure he didn't get it from the fandom, rather than the show itself? A lot of fans tend to push that angle, even in places and to a degree where it doesn't make sense to.

It's possible I suppose.
I remember when an artist had the temerity to draw one the characters, Rose Quartz, with a thinner build than she was portrayed with in the show; and the fandom was so offended by that, that they bullied her into attempting suicide. A "woke" show like Steven Universe is going to attract to its fandom those who are also "woke", and we both know what those sorts of people tend to believe, and what they do to people who don't think like they do. But it isn't the show's fault that they act like that, or that they try to push their ideology on others; especially considering that it tries to teach tolerance and acceptance for everyone, and not the fake kind that's only meant for those that already agree with you.

If anything, the bigger question isn’t whether its a piece of fiction or text’s fault that someone became an asshole or behaved as an asshole, its more what sort of person were they before said piece of fiction or text

I bet most people can listen to ISIS recruitment vids but tell them they’re full of shit and romanticizing some dumb life living in a third world country when they can enjoy anime waifu’s

Guys who fall for it are the sort of asshole who wants that bullshit romanticized “purpose in life” when they won’t actually do anything like charity instead, hell it even goes to show they’re not actually interested in some righteous cause that helps people all they want is to join a “righteous cause” and have some high

I’m pretty sure Ayn Rand’s critique or “Altruism” wasn’t a critique of true compassion just because she described it as “For Others” it was willingly giving your mind away to some cause regardless of its actual factual goodness

Say, is it me or are European Comics mostly immune or handle things way more tastefully in comparison?

They’re even still more sexually casual

Say, anybody still watching RWBY? Gotta say, I get ATLAS' located somewhere cold and all, but I think the designers are possibly planning on covering the girls up even further in future seasons

I stopped watching back during season 3, when the writing quality suddenly took a nosedive; and from what I've heard, it got worse from there. The only designs that matter to me, much like everything else involving the show, are what we saw in the first two seasons.
