Battletech Welcome to the Jungle

Fair enough but then shouldn't there still be information on the Core about making the Streak launchers? Rather than not having anything at all.
Poorly-worded on my part. Yeah, there’s info on the launchers, but nothing on the ammunition, which is the important half of the equation. Without the ammo, the launchers are less than useless because they take up an extra half-ton of space.

Large Lasers and LB-5Xs both count as main guns in my mind, due to the combination of mass, damage, and range. ERLLs moreso even than regular LLs. This is especially true when your primary target is ASFs, which have to make a control check when they get tagged.

And since LB-5Xs are subject to the same damage boost as their heavy brethren when paired with advanced SLDF neurohelmets and an Augur Array, a refitted Rifleman with those four guns, theoretically does 32 damage a round out to just beyond PPC-range.

That’s pretty seriously impressive for a 60-ton ‘Mech.

When your primary target is ASFs you may as well use AC-2s. You're not going to threshold with cluster or flak so the name of the game is lawndart checks. The only thing that matters is range. LB-5Xs reach farther than AC-5s, but not as far as AC-2s and certainly not as far as LB-2Xs. If you're avoiding endosteel you'd wind up with something like this:

It's not as fast as a Phoenix or Sarissa, but it'll keep pace with the more common Griffins as long as there aren't cliffs. And perhaps more importantly with roads adding about 11 khp to vehicles but not mechs it can still keep up with the common Succession Wars Thumper SPG. None of the standard AA platforms can actually do that.

I forget if CAC or allies can produce ER MLs and/or LBX-5 ACs.
and what about TCs?
I do know they have DHS in production.

I misremember the Rifleman varient #;
but there was one with an XL (up to 5/8) + FF armor + DHS (maybe 12?) + a Targeting Computer.
The armor wasn't as much as you're listing, but it was noticeably more than standard.
It was armed with twin LBX-5s and 4 - 6 MLs (may have been ER).
Even a heavy fighter will shy away from that much accurate firepower.

CAC is, as per the last chapter, working on both ERMLs and LB-5Xs. But they just started, so it will take a bit. No targeting computers, just SLDF-quality target tracking systems. And that isn’t the Rifleman refit that will be appearing in this story.

..... My head Cannon spoiler for next arc....

Title: Invasion Gone Wrong

Two JS pop in system 3 Overlord DS, 2 Triumph DS and a Leopard CV.

-ASF Battle the enemy ASF cut to ribbons.
-Partially built capital energy weapons pop An Overlord, damage others.
-Invasion force lands towards low lands, somewhat scattered, introduction to “local wildlife”.
- Kujo attracted to Overlord dropship landing near where it was sleeping. Kujo decided to pounce on overlord, might be good snack. ( Picture Godzilla tearing open the top of an Overlord, then pulling mechs out to eat like corn chips).
- Triumph attempts to unload AFV down vehicle ramps, and a swarm of metal-eating velociraptor(MEV), start clearing operations looking for good metal treats, only thing left in DS are Quickscell products, even MEV avoid Quickscell products.
- Invasion foiled by local wild life, enemy broadcast SOS ask for help.
-Captured Enemy DS used to board enemy JS or Blackbox tech used to broadcast enemy JS LOCATION, Steiner forces jump in to capture enemy JS.

-- Hope to see a fresh view of the intel battle between LIC and DC.... and other intelligence organizations over CAC.

Edit: Maybe it is my perverse desire to see a Sword of Light regiment, begging a Mercenary unit for help...... recorded for posterity and broadcast heavily across the Inner Sphere.

the next arc is clearly the CAC expanding through the power of industry to utilize the other fusion lines and weapons production capacity some of it being los/advanced tech and some of it not so much.

Don't be silly.

The next arc is obviously going to be the Battle Harem arc, where prospective brides fight it out in mechs for the new Duke's hand in marriage.
