Yeah, stringstorm's great, though I think his 40k themed Idol Month songs are better, simply because the sheer incongruity of the concept vs the setting.

In unrelated news, GW has started slowly inching toward giving marine HQs more flexibility, with new multipart kits that have slightly more options. And, some rather strange buffs as well:

I get why the power fist gets a bonus, since you're giving up the utility of the other profiles. I'm not clear why the swords just get a bunch of bonuses.

I was hoping the twin fist would let you do the Double Fisted Hammer Punch or something fun like that, 40k takes itself a bit too seriously at times. Oh well.

Now just imagine a bunch of battle-hardened Space Marines lining up for autographs....

It occurs to me that while there's no evidence that says the longstanding Space Wolf/Dark Angel feud is exasterbated by the two chapters both being fans of different, rival idol singers, there's also no evidence that says that's not a factor.

Which Idols are they fans of?

Would it be an acceptable estimate for the size of the Phalanx to be roughly 500 km / 300 miles across?

According to what I can find here, it's actually at least twice that big.

That said, they use a slightly shaky measure for that math, as the quote they use to scale it isn't cited, and assuming that only the Gloriana class is bigger is a bit of a jump. The symbol is stated to bigger than most Imperial spacecraft, that could mean it's smaller than a number of other ships. If it's smaller than, say, Imperial battleships. Which are in the range of 10-15 kilometers, then the station itself is only about 50% bigger than your guess, for example.

Ok. Thanks for this answer. This leads me to next question.

Would it be a good estimate if Phalanx is this big that Raptorus Rex would be at least about a 100 miles across?

That I'm not sure of, ramilies class starforts are noted as being huge, but not too any defined size as far as I can tell.

Looks plausible as a rough sketch, fits the sort of retro styling that the admech are know for.

I was about to say it's odd that 40k doesn't already have a technical, but then I remembered the achillies ridgerunner exists.

Hm, I wonder how that chapter would see the Emperor. How much of the buddhist teachings have survived to that era, and how much sense these marines have made of it. Going by the apothecary and that human, I assume they believe suffering to be a burden to bear.

Is there any indication of how much more could a Thunder Warrior lift as opposed to a Space Marine?

Like let's say an average Space Marine can lift over three metric tons without his armour. Could an average Thunder Warrior likely manage let's say 2-3 times said lifting fear, 5 times said lifting feat or 10 times said lifting feat?

I would say that a Thunder Warrior had two or three times the strength of an Astartes, which combined with other attributes, gave them considerable edge in combat. It's possible that when consumed by bloodlust, Thunder Warriors could go way beyond limitations of their bodies though, essentially breaking themselves to pieces while destroying their enemies, which would be another factor in their shorter lifespan.

Hmm ... Emperor perceived as an enlightened superhuman who effortlessly defeated the lies/temptations of Chaos, and now suffers in service to all mankind on the Golden Throne as a Bodhisattva-esque figure?

A typical Space Marine Company has 60 Tactical Marines / Intercessors + 20 Assault Marines / Inceptors + 20 Devastator Marines / fire support Primaris (such as Eradicators, Hellblasters, etc...). And the vehicle component is 10 transports with capacity of ten Space Marines.

How often do Space Marines mix different types of Marines into one vehicle?

As in do Tacticals, Devastators and Assaults travel in their separate transports, or would they be divided more evenly as in six Tacticals, two Devastators and two Assaults in a single Rhino?
