Warhammer Warhammer General discussion thread: Now with 100% more Space Marines

A typical Space Marine Company has 60 Tactical Marines / Intercessors + 20 Assault Marines / Inceptors + 20 Devastator Marines / fire support Primaris (such as Eradicators, Hellblasters, etc...). And the vehicle component is 10 transports with capacity of ten Space Marines.

How often do Space Marines mix different types of Marines into one vehicle?

As in do Tacticals, Devastators and Assaults travel in their separate transports, or would they be divided more evenly as in six Tacticals, two Devastators and two Assaults in a single Rhino?
If it is anything approaching RL tactics not to often except for transport outside he battlefield. The primary concern when assigning transport vehicles is tactical coherence so while tactical squads can have heavy and assault weapons on their TOE they will still try not to combine battle squads of different kinds because their range and style of combat needs deployment in different locations of the battlefield as well as different tactical necessities.

A Devastator squad is better deployed in the back with good, long line of sight, and ideally their transport can add its long range weapons as well; on the other hand for assault teams you want something that can deploy right in the enemy's face and is armed with a flamer to thin the herd before hand to hand combat; as for tactical marines, sometimes they deploy in good cover near objectives, some other times supporting and being supported by assaults and devastators and from time to time they actually stay on their transport and shoot from the vehicle using the mobility and firepower advantage.

Are powerful Librarians like Tigurius, Mephiston, Iskandar Khayon and Ahriman beta or alpha level psykers?

I would say they are high grade beta level psykers, human alpha level psykers are probably too unstable to become space marines.

Can I get a TLDR

It is only 45 minutes. Some of Drachinifel's videos are several times that length.

Anyway, in short: thanks to retcons, all of Emperor's achievments were not actually his, but were done by other people (usually women). The only things Emperor apparently did of his own was sit around and be a dick.

Most idiotic SJW-retcon is the origin of the Adeptus Astartes, who were apparently created by a woman by name Amara Astarti. Yeah, that is not a joke.

Wait... isn't that a self own though? Since now Belisaurius Caul didn't one up the Emperor, but a woman?

So far the Horus Heresy has had:

-Erda, the 'mother' of the Primarchs, who after helping the Emperor for thousands of years conquer untold number of civilizations/people decided that reuniting Humanity using the Primarchs they made as warlords was going too far. She then proceeds to throw her children into the Warp to 'save' them from the Emperor.

-Astarte, the woman who now is the person who helped make the Astartes which end up named after her, betrays the Emperor in a stupid rebellion that is easily put down. Despite being a traitor the legions of Space Marines would be named in her honor for...reasons?

-Selenar Gene cult witches who possess better info on gene seed that the Emperor or Astarte did somehow and try to keep it from the Emperor. Why? Because he is a man, and men only destroy things. They will then go on to side with Horus, who at that point has become the champion of Chaos, and it is only through a series of sacrifices by heroic Astartes and others that their vital intel instead gets recovered by the Imperium (in part thanks to Magnus and Alpharius helping them). Moral of story, men bad so join worse men who will cause extinction level catastrophe?

These characters introduced into the setting to strip away the Emperor's achievements all suck and are awful on a great many levels. Astarte is a redundant, pointless character. Erda changed a feat of the Chaos Gods stealing and scattering the Primarchs into Space Karen Took The Kids. And the Selenar? They exist to say "Men bad, women good" and also possess the intel that will eventually result in the creation of Primaris.

If not for incompetence on the part of their writers I would think that these characters were actually an effort to make women look bad, because now the entire Horus Heresy could have been avoided if Erda wasn't a dumbass. To save them from serving as generals in war Erda condemned Angron to slavery, Mortarion to suffering, Perturabo to a tyrant and the gaze of the Warp itself always peering down at him, Lorgar being raised by Chaos cultists, Curze not getting the help with his Psyker powers he needed and going insane, Alpharius to being mentally scarred by a Daemon nearly killing him in his incubation pod, Omegon to over a century of solitude from the Imperium, the Alpha-Omega twins possibly having been made twins with Omegon's theory that their being tossed through the warp was what split their soul in two, and all the resulting suffering of all these traumas and issues that would play out on a galactic scale.

Seriously, these are among the worst characters in all of 40k, and 40k has a lot of competition on that front.

I would like to propose that Dorn having the personality and brain of a particularly smooth stone also was due to being thrown through the Warp, because I doubt the Emperor intended to give his son autism. That seems more like an Erda feature, in which case it may be genetic and thus excusable.

BTW a little poll: which life would be better in 40k verse; life as a normal human or life as a Space Marine?

As with all things it depends where you live, if you were born in a death world, a daemon world, a fortress world or at the lowest levels of a hive city or similar then being an Astares is better. If you're a middle class citizen with at least some basic rights then a conventional human is a shorter but far less stressful life unless the Tiranids or the Orks pay a visit.

Don't forget the Lion having to grow up on a Chaos-tainted planet overrun by Things That Shall Not Be Named and daemons completely alone ...

I don't think they care, so long as the Emps is turned into some useless psycho moron.

But yeah.

...... I want my grim derp parody back! I want Orks to be evolved soccer hooligans. I want dwarves back! I want it to be a fun setting where 2000AD meets Elric of Melniburne. Where you can fight out a battle that looks like it belongs inside a Heavy Metal magazine.

Personally, I want it to go back to original Rogue Trader days... I mean:

Funnily enough, I think all the "oops, I rolled a one with a plasma gun" jokes make more sense now then they did back when they were made.

Back in 7th edition and before, plasma overloads inflicted a fairly strong hit to the unit shooting, but it was still survivable if you were lucky or had good armor. It's only since 8th that they've been almost always lethal.
