To be clear he seems to be comparing contemporary San Francisco to the current Taliban controlled Afghanistan, not the Soviet backed Afghan Government in its Civil War with the various Mujahadeen factions. So that's something.
I read once about some dude who killed people and fed them to pigs,but it could be urban myth.
But,in Poland we have village "Złe mięso" /Bad meat/ when,according to local legends,were inn in which innkeeper sometching killed people and fed them to next quests..
Probably just local legend.

It's not uncommon for pig farmers to be missing fingers or chunks of flesh on legs, there were also cases of farmers falling into pig pens and get devoured. The last such case in Slovenia happened approximately ten years ago, the body was half eaten, so they could still do post-mortem, apparently the guy had a heart attack while feeding the pigs and fell into pen.

Quite simply, pigs are near-absolute omnivores who are happy to eat absolutely anything they can, and while they're usually not actively aggressive towards humans because we feed them and they're smart enough to know that, humans are absolutely fair game to them under other circumstances.

Yeah, that is why the pig pens we had back in the village had small doors to pour slop in the troughs.
And I have heard stories of one huge wild pig killing at least 2 people, after being shot.
Pigs are dangerous fuckers and you usually need several people to slaughter one.
Preferably with a high capacity semiautomatic rifle (I will point to feral hogs every time anyone says there is NO possible civilian use for an AR) or a trained horse and a fuckoff big boar spear.

And unlike cows they will usually figure out what's going on, so entire village will know when someone is slaughtering a pig.
When slaughtering pigs, bolt pistol will do in 99% cases, but sometimes pig is so dangerous that you actually have to shoot in the pig pen with the rifle. In the wild though...
