Actually, we seem to be heading that way. The left and the right are not happy with how corporate America conducted itself. All the people in my generation who didn't have any jobs in 08'-10', who got crappy jobs, and were paid absolute crap--so companies could skim off billions? They're about to become the dominate voter once the Boomers die.

What the plebeians think is irrelevant, the politicians of both parties will continue screwing them so long as their campaign donation checks continue to cash. What're they gonna do, vote for the other side who's doing exactly the same thing?

I think he means Democrats, and more of a matter of idealism vs. cynicism. Democrats are holding these really lofty pie in the sky progressive ideals and downright communist thinking and lamenting it. "Oh no the gender studies is gone! Those poor LGBTQIA+ of Afghanistan!" and such from the very loud woke minority that show a complete lack of understanding of culture and life outside progressive west.

Basically it's all propaganda, the actual objective was always to justify more domestic spying and transferring more money to military-industry megacorps, not to decrease the amount of rape going on.

And then he proceeded to ignore calls from BoJo and according to reports from the ground be downright disruptive towards the allies attempts to secure the evacuation of their own people

Because comepeltly diffrent situations involving countries, and the fact that it would hurt more then our pride if we let China go unopposed.
Also the fact that, as Sixth has pointed out, China is the big bad enemy.
Also the fact that Japan, Vietnam, and Australia would go to support Taiwan even without US support, since Japan knows they would be next.
In which case, we would have too by our treaty with Japan.

But obviously our treaty with A-stan, a country whose military didn't want to fight, ran, is stringer then any of our 60 plus long year ones in INDOPACOM...A-stan gave us only two options. Of course after our bad pullout game. It was either, we basically reinvade and make defense of Kabul our job since the ANA or inept, ir we hold the airport.
We did the stupid choice of the later.

I am not defending our horrible idiotic situation, but INDOPACOM IS NOT A-STAN.

I'd be in the middle here. It does prove something, but not in the grand sense of US abandoning allies. In Afghanistan, US had no allies in the same sense as NATO or Japan, it had a bunch of crooks willing to maintain a semi functional illusion of an ally existing for purpose of keeping a river of money flowing. Once the river flow decreased into a mere stream, the illusion was no longer worth maintaining and the head crooks literally ran with their money.

But this, and the current overtures to the Taliban show another thing. That western elites outright pride themselves on being hopelessly naive, stupid, soft, and downright asking to be tugged by heartstrings when it comes to relations with ruthlessly but poor third world regimes. That in turn is an open invitation to hybrid warfare style shenanigans and schemes, which said decisionmakers just won't be able to stop themselves from being roped into, and if they try, their own "free" and "independent" media will savage them. Which is what the Taliban are doing, with hardly trying. Say some of the right things while doing whatever and complain a bit about other threats and humanitarian issues, and boom, suddenly the oh so outraged about women's rights and alphabet soup westerners want to throw you free favors and riches like the idiots they are. Pathetic...

Yes collaborators only get to enjoy themselves if the invading power stays for good or if they are able to immigrate to the invading power before the insurgents get a hold of them if the invading power decides to leave.

The leaving american idea of "sabotaging" the choppers? Breaking dials and the glasses of the dials. No joke. Apparently that is what they did, going in the cockpits with hammers and just breaking instruments a bit. They really expected this to somehow stop the Taliban from using or repairing them.

"Haha! They won't possibly be able to get the glass from the proprietary company shipped here, and they will never be able to order the specialty dials these helos use!" They are that disconnected. The solders should have been ordered to take a fucking hand grenade and pop on the engines of those things, THAT would have been decommissioning them.
