It doesn't mean being in MANPAD range for hours. We have aircraft capable of this.
Just not as easily
As silver linings go this is pretty good. I would dearly love to see American heroin prices increase a hundred-fold. A whole lot more Americans have died after being tricked into addiction by Sackler drug pushers than have died in the sights of a Taliban soldier. Probably more of our soldiers have died thus, than in combat.You can take it a step further-the Taliban have pledged to end the Opium trade from Afghanistan, which supplies about 60-80% of global production currently depending on the source you use. Prior to 9/11, they actually had done this, so I have confidence in their abilities and willingness in this matter. As a result:
This shitpost is dedicated to the brave Mujahidin of Afghanistan
They've done more to end the Opioid Crisis with this one step than the U.S. Government ever has.
@Zachowon & @History Learner
Easy to resupply...for now.
Supplies come in on the planes that will leave with people.
Just make sure any military supplies look like food and water packs.

I pray for the young Afghans who grew up under occupation and didn't really understand what was going on. Who took us at our word, or were bullied into believing that the Americans would be there forever so they had to make peace with us. We led them down the primrose path when we tried to establish a Vichy regime.
@History Learner
Gotcha.
Yeah, that airport is hosed in an hour...maybe. Depends on how much mortar fire the Taliban wants to use before they bumb rush it. Not much cover on a tarmac.
Theres no way we hold it if the Taliban really wants it. Not without uping the civilian kill count drastically.
How I wish that could be true.They've earned their peace, and I hope this whole disaster for them can now finally be put behind them.
How I wish that could be true.
I doubt it will happen though. Too many people likely want to return their 'glory days'. That usually means blood and suffering.
Do they even have access to the systems themselves? As in the login info for the databaseTaliban Warning: US Must Fully Withdraw American Troops by Sept. 11

Congratulations Biden you played yourself. Should've stuck to Drumpf's arrangement bitch.
I agree with almost everything here; though I blame Bill Clinton for helping to start all this to get his own scandals out of the news, the Neocons for enabling this after 9/11 and Biden and his cabal for utterly blotching this.I’m glad we’re leaving. As much as I dislike Biden and would love to blame him for this, the greater blame lies with Bush for getting us into this mess in the first place and Obama for escalating our presence there. Obviously, Biden could be doing a better job here, but it’s honestly a problem that goes way beyond him, this mess is bipartisan and also a problem with the Pentagon and Military Industrial Complex.
If a gambling addict has been in a casino all week and has lost $100,000 of their life savings, then a family member drags them out, you don’t say that family member caused that $100,000 to be wasted.
The real mistake here is decades of insane Middle East policy that has caused thousands of American deaths, hundreds of thousands of foreign deaths, costs us trillions of dollars, and turned millions of innocent people into destitute refugees.
The USA is collapsing from within while we spend ourselves into bankruptcy and have troops dying in other countries that have never posed a threat to us. Especially as China is poised to eclipse us.
It’s too bad that Afghani people are surfing and dying, that we are responsible for it, but the best thing that we can do is to change our foreign policy so that we aren’t in this kind of situation again.
As Trump ran on, as most Americans want - America First.
Yeah, Clinton deserves some blame too. Neo-cons in general do and he’s pretty close to being one. Biden, in fact, is a DC establishment man like Obama before him, and I attribute blame to all of them.I agree with almost everything here; though I blame Bill Clinton for helping to start all this to get his own scandals out of the news, the Neocons for enabling this after 9/11 and Biden and his cabal for utterly blotching this.
They are going to try to blame it on Trump, which is the height of absurdities because he may be the only guy in DC with serious power for the last few decades who doesn’t deserve any blame here, but the left are just going to start up their “Orange Man Bad” narratives and their base will eat it up like they do for all of the propaganda put in front of them.lets face facts.
The democrats own this.
They can blame every one they want they can make all the excuses they want but they firmly own this defeat.
You cant walk away from something like this with out taking damage.

Look at our sister sites, they are already pointing fingers at Trump.
I am, however, feeling a little bit hopeful that more moderate and open minded Americans might put them blame of Biden, his administration, and the countless shills taking up for him.
if it's of any condolances I think I saw an artlce on CNN where they were questioning his competence. So it's possible even his close allies are turning on him. The bad thing about that is he's not even been president for a year. how bad are things going to be by the end of next year?
