Neither. Both were a lot of avoidable and unnecessary bloodshed.

If I have to pick a favorite it would be the Anglo-Zanzibar war. That one was over and done within less than an hour.

Or the US invasion of Grenada in 1983, which overthrew a totalitarian Marxist dictatorship extremely quickly, right?

Anyway, do you know just how extensive birth and baptismal records were in 19th century Russia? Random question, but just curious.

If I'm remerbering what I read correctly the US special forces involved in that mess experienced communications breakdowns and resorted to using coin operated payphones and international phone calls from a payphone for part of it.

Not the US military's best day.

Chinese. Which explains their whole "Muh 9 dash line!" crap, and the fact that any Chinese military unit stationed at Kalayaan Island could easily strike targets within Manila. My hometown would also be within striking range of Chinese military forces.

Very sorry to hear that. :( Do you ever plan on moving back to the Philippines or do you intend to stay in Canada permanently?

Also, how is Jollibee's? I've never tasted it but I heard that it sounds delicious.

Unsure yet. If I had plenty of money to invest, I'd move back to the Philippines, although I'd probably want to move to Cebu or Laoag. If not, then I'd probably stay in Canada, or at least move to Australia or the US.

Jolibee is an unusual fast food chain in that we serve spaghetti and fried chicken. There's one that recently opened in Vancouver.

Anyway, another unpopular take:

The US would have been better off arbitrating a settlement to World War I rather than directly entering the war. That way, at least democracy in Russia would have had much higher odds of surviving. Edward "Colonel" House was already aware of this back in 1917:

Or, alternatively, the US should have militarily removed the Bolsheviks from power in Russia after it helped defeat Germany on the Western Front in late 1918.

You have a point, although I think that she believes 'Justice' is whatever she says it is.
When St. Peter is deciding if you are worthy enough to be admitted to heaven your soul and all of your sins will be weighed and compared to the weight of an Angel's feather (a floe of an Angel's hair in some versions).

If your soul and sins aren't lighter than that you're going straight to hell and eternal damnation.

Well his made up sisters boyfriend's cousin's something or other has experience with this
You could place me on your ignore list instead of seeing and reading what I have to say. That would save you the effort of being angry and tossing false accusations my way that I usually don't feel are even worthy of responding to.

@Rocinante seems to hate me. I usually don't reply.
I don't hate you, I just think you're kinda weird. I don't believe half the crap you say, and I think you inject it in at very awkward moments that don't make much sense. So I like to make jokes about it.

Doesn't mean I hate you. I'm weird too. I mean, i think we're all weird in our own ways just by being here. So Why would I block you?

I don't even block the people I actually dislike. You aren't one of them. You're just a strange dude to me, that's all.

We're all kinda weird. I also don't believe most of what others say. Does that mean they're liars? No, because there is a truth behind every lie.

We're also way off-topic here and I'd rather not get dinged for another derail.

All The States will fight you to the death over this.

A big reason for the constant fight over Voter ID is because states make a huge stack of cash off driver's licenses. If there's a national ID, a significant chunk of the urban population will quit using a driver's license and the states will lose massive amounts of money. If ID is required to vote the driver's license is obligated to be free to avoid poll taxes as the states will lose massive amounts of money.

It always comes down to money.
How does having a national ID absolve drivers from needing drivers licenses?!?

Because driver's licenses also double as state ID.

Though I don't agree that a federal ID would reduce people getting driver's licenses. People get those because they want to drive. They just happen to also serve as IDs. Non drivers get state issue IDs from the same place you'd get the driver's license though, they even look the same, and around here people use the phrases "ID," and "driver's license" interchangeably. It likely would reduce people from purchasing state IDs.

As you might have noted, I specified the urban population in the post you quoted. In the inner cities, relatively few people actually need to drive that much. They still get driver's licenses or sometimes just state-issued ID for purposes like buying liquor or opening a bank account and such. A free National ID would let them use that and no longer have to enjoy the comfort and efficiency of the DMV office and the expense of paying for a state ID.

In rural areas of course everybody drives and they'd keep using them.
